Halo fans are retarded.
I think saying all Halo fans are retarded is going a bit far. I love Halo, been playing it since LAN parties with the original. The problem is, we've got stupid little kids coming in and contaminating the community. Don't hate the game, hate the player.
And the auto-aiming was horrible in Halo 2. Try playing Halo 1 after you play Halo 2 and you'll get your ass handed to you by someone who has played Halo 1 more.
P.S. Marathon Port FTW!

I hate the game as well. I'll never understand why it became so popular. It did nothing new, and it did nothing better than what had been done before in previous FPSs. But I guess if I were a person who never played the genre on PC, and maybe only played a few on consoles like Goldeneye or TimeSplitters, then maybe I would have enjoyed it, if only due to being oblivious to the better examples out there, which is what most Halo fans are.Raz1r wrote:Don't hate the game, hate the player.

That has more to do with developers making shizzy controls...Metroid Prime 3 might be the best. My only problem with Wii FPSes is that the crosshair moves around the screen when in PC FPSes, it doesn't move around like that. It stays in the center. They need to realize that dammit!kinn wrote:I for one think mouse/keyboard rules but I still think we could have a better solution for FPS controls. I thought the Wiimote would be the answer but playing games like Red Steel and CoD2 has left me feeling doubtful about that.

I guess the reason why they dont do it like PC FPS's i.e. crosshair locked to middle of the screen is because when you want to rotate your viewpoint 360 degrees how do you do it on a PC? When you reach the end of your mouse mat you have to lift and position the mouse back to the centre of the mouse mat and then carry on moving in the same direction.metaleggman wrote:That has more to do with developers making shizzy controls...Metroid Prime 3 might be the best. How can you do that for the Wiimote?
I've thought about this before and I think one of the soluions would be to press and hold a button while you reposition the Wiimote i.e. the action of lifting the mouse would be done via the button press.
The Wiimote is defo a step in the right direction but is it perfect for FPS games?
Can anyone else think of a better solution?

While that is a good point, I personally feel that that won't be an issue. Since the wiimote is basically simulating the orientation of your head/eyes, this is all being controlled in a 3D space. I think the problem with the mouse is that it is being controlled in a 2D space, which is what requires the repositioning. Of course, while this could be done via the IR sensor bar, it would be ideally done by using the wiimotes 3D positioning sensors. Considering how accurate Nintendo claims them to be, the only problem is that all the developers are too lazy to create their own control engine. The lack of ambitious developers is what I think causes the problems, but I'd love to hear other people's ideas on the manner are.kinn wrote:I guess the reason why they dont do it like PC FPS's i.e. crosshair locked to middle of the screen is because when you want to rotate your viewpoint 360 degrees how do you do it on a PC? Admittedly I didn't believe you at first till last night I tried it a few times and sure enough there is a subtle auto aim going on. It's not drastic what so ever and you can still miss headshots quite easily but if you're aiming head high and keep your timing you can get mostly head shots with more than a few coincidental kills you weren't expecting to get.

While were at it, we could also see how many people invert controls as well maybe?
