Halo fans are retarded.

Why do they claim Halo 2 doesn't have auto-aiming? Yes it does. I try so hard to explain what auto-aiming is to them, but they just can't grasp the concept. All they know is that the term "auto-aiming" might take away some of the illusion that they have leet mad skillz.

Ok whatever. Let's just ignore how your cross-hair is always magnetized to your enemy when you move it over them. You can literally FEEL the cross-hair slowdown over the enemy, as if their body is a sticky glue that the cross-hair gets stuck in for a moment.

Yeah, that's totally not auto-aim, that's just your fantastic analog accuracy, right there. Strange how I'm holding my own with you, despite playing a combined total of 2 hours of Halo in my entire life, while you've clocked 2000.

I'm not saying that the game shouldn't have auto-aiming. It's a console FPS, after all. Just don't be a douche and deny its existence while taking credit for the benefits it offers.

I remember having a halo fan come to a pc gaming club I was in a couple years back. He said he could not play an fps with the mouse/keyboard setup but he would "own" us all with a controller. So we rigged up an xbox controller to a usb port and let him go at it. He quickly learned how fast an alien can be in Subway in Alien Vs Predator Gold. Even with a maxed out sensitivity he couldnt keep up, let alone hit anything.

I cant really say much though because as much as I hate the Halo games they do have some charm to them, and have a pretty decent coop mode. Its no Timesplitters, but it is fun.

Well a mouse offers greater accuracy than an analog stick. I wish these people would understand that this is a fact and not opinion. I'll bet someone has even mathematically proven it.

I've heard many people say the same thing. And yes, your solution is the obvious path. Without auto-aiming to back them up, they will be fragged 9 times out of 10, if not more. But that's not their fault, it's the sticks fault. If they would realize this, then maybe they could accept the existence of auto-aim without feeling like a loser.

I don't want to give the impression that I'm just ranting against Halo fans because most of them are generic jocks who only believe in the holy trio of Madden, Halo, and GTA. That's fine, it doesn't bother me. I really doubt that they cling to this game so that they can pass themselves off as "hardcore gamers" who kick mighty ass. The general public still looks at hardcore gamers as if they're anti-social losers, and hell that's not too far off. That's what makes this whole situation so baffling to me.

I hear you. I still get odd looks from some of my coworkers for going to arcade auctions and lanparties instead of sporting events.

My XBOX 360 owning cousin is a moderate Halo fan (as in not a flaming fanboy), yet somehow he too insists that an analog stick is better than a mouse.

Well, maybe an analog stick combined with good auto-aiming/aiming compensation is better than a mouse with no assistance whatsoever. Each to his or her own. Note that this doesn't contradict what anyone says so much as step around it.

To be quite honest, I suck badly enough at most FPS games (even though I enjoy them) that in my case, I'm not sure it matters.

Well people who say control pad is better for an FPS they sure dont know how to play an FPS. When I saw in consolesource that there was an adapter (the price was too much 69.99 when I bought it) for mouse keyboard, Playstation 2, and two additional usb adapter that was the perfect accesory. I still have it and when I play Gears of Wars ppl rant me that hey how the heck you have that accuracy!!!!! (I put it this way but thats not really what they say. You know what I mean !""###$#% ) I tell them I got that thing and for some sort of reason they dont believe me..... The only bad part is for running I got running in the Z and to hide behind the walls I still cant find a good key to bind it.

Halo was awesome...IN 1998 when it was first demoed at a MacWorld Expo. It's completely overrated. (then again, I'm probably still bitter from Bungie selling out to Microsoft)
