yeah, I know it was a difficult decision. My reasoning was that it was to be dreamcast themed cab, so if I did any other pattern then it would not have been like the DC controller. Its not the most comfortable layout but its still not that bad. I also opted for convex buttons instead of concave because the DC buttons are convex.peace4myheart wrote:I noticed the angle of the buttons. Aren't they a bit unconventional and hard to use??? Why not go with a horizontal or a bit of a curve direction???
See it really wasnt my decision...it was Sega's

You know you don't have to follow it to a T. Usually, when people do themed whatever, pictures and decals are enough. I give you props for including the finer details.mako72 wrote:yeah, I know it was a difficult decision. well I think I said it right. That is if I have my convexes and concaves right and I think I do. yeah I didnt want to just throw the dreamcast name on it. I wanted it to be subtle. Things like the opening where the DC sits is shaped like the DC viewed from the front.peace4myheart wrote:You know you don't have to follow it to a T. I appreciate the feedback from everyone.
I have a question though. Maybe this is the wrong area but, I notice that the sega saturn av port is similar to an S-video cable and I dont have a av cable for the Saturn. Does anyone know of a way to get modify an S-video to plug into the Saturn? Or any kind of hack so I dont have to buy an av cable.
I put it on the top because if it was by the buttons then it couldnt been seen unless you bent down to that level ( maybe I could have put it at an angle but that would have been difficult to do). When it is on the top it is at eye level and is easy to see whats on the screen. Also I wanted it to be removable and a big hole in the control panel doesnt look good.GSZX1337 wrote:Why is the VMU slot on the top? Wouldn't it be better to have the VMU slot by the buttons (maybe on the far right)?
That's impressive I would never have thought that at such a high res VGA output from the DC would be so sharp.mako72 wrote:Here are the specs on the monitor. 1680 x 1050 resolution,2-millisecond response,1400:1 contrast ratio,300 cd/m2 brightness.devilmyarse wrote:What is that monitor's native resolution? How have you got it so sharp at such a big panel? Doesn't the DC output VGA?
So its very bright and sharp. Its great for playing shmups. like Ikaruga. Every bullet is crystal clear and sharp. Yes, I use the VGA converter and its amazing how good it looks.
Some of the best looking games are, Ikaruga, Guilty Gear, Soul Caliber, and Rez. The Characters in Marvel VS. Capcom look awful but the backgrounds are amazing.
You got any pics of just the screen close up on Soul Calibur/ikaruga? I'm thinking about swapping my CRT monitor in my arcade cab to a TFT but was worried about low resolution being blurry and horrible.

Nice cab. I love the lighting. Can you go into detail and tell us what's what?

Nice work on the bump, I never saw this.
While amazing (and I mean amazing), the main reason I love my dreamcast so much is that it gets more of a workout with my mates than any other, you need a dual arcade setup.
Stunning though.
