Franchises that should have never continued

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Agreed.

I meant reboot in the simplest sense, to start something that has been turned off.

Resident Evil series: After the fifth one I have no clue how the hell they could do another one story wise. Plus not to mention the fact the series has already gone through a reboot, so the only viable option would be a prequel or another reboot(which would be fucking retarded). But its capcom and they will some how make a new one.

Look at this list. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Da ... tion_games
Weekend Warrior, no offense, but you don't seem to play DDR.

There has been roughly one arcade game per year, very much like the Beatmania series. This is in no way , way too many or burning the franchise. Of course that list includes the Japanese versions of the game, the American versions of the game and the European versions of the game SEPARATEDLY.

Music games need no updates, just more songs, new steps and some candy. After a year you want more songs so Konami releases another version.

50 games looks like much, but how many games does Mario have? Please, numbers isn't everything.
Dude, you're not telling me that every DDR game has been rated well.
So, tell me what of those mixes were poorly received aside from probably 3rd or 4th mix because of the lost of licenses.

Also who do you ask for those "ratings"? IGN? It's like reading reviews for shumps only worse.
Looking for a cool game? Find it in my blog!

SF vs KoF...thats a joke. THe only way ANYONE could make such a statement is if the ONLY history they have with the 2 games are from 2009-2010.
Yep, I know im the one ya love to hate.

IIRC, that was a trailer for a new Sonic 2D game that will be released on PSN, XBLA, and Wiiware. Hopefully that turns out to be a decent game!
I'm pretty sure it's going to be a retail release. I haven't heard anything about it being a downloadable game.

Dude, have you played Mega Man 9? It follows the original formula down to the letter.

I believe he thinks that reboot means to restart as well as to alter something.

No biggie.

It followed the original formula, but it took a different direction than Mega Man 8 by going back to basics (and not having Auto).

I'm pretty sure that Street Fighter games have almost always introduced new backgrounds along with new gameplay mechanics. Better check your facts there
Also, tell me: How was it a SF rip-off? Because it had characters fighting each other on a 2D plane?
Hey, let's face it. Almost every 2D fighting game since Street Fighter is a rip-off. Even Mortal Kombat frequently gets accused of being a Street Fighter rip-off even though it featured realistic, digitized graphics and ushered in a new level of violence in video games with horrific finishing moves.
Point One: What about Street Fighter II and Street Fighter II Turbo? What about Street Fighter Alpha 2 and Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold? What about Street Fighter III: New Generation and Street Fighter III: Second Impact? I think I've checked my facts plenty. Compare KOF'96 to '97. Then '97 to '98. Then '98 to '99. Then '99 to 2k. Keep going. The changes that took place could fill pages. Not all the changes have been good changes (see KOF2k1), but at least there were plenty of them.

If anybody plays KOF'98, then KOF'2k2, and thinks it's the same damn game, then I would encourage them to start out with Super Mario Bros - KOF is a bit too complex to be anyone's first game ever.

Point Two: And thus, because people label it a Street Fighter II clone makes it a fact? That's such a boneheaded conclusion, it makes me want to stop taking my heart medicine. You want a Street Fighter II clone? Check out the first Fighter's History.
