Yes, but the different characters were very different. Most characters had their own unique gameplay mechanics. It honestly reminded me a lot more of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure than it did Guilty Gear.

That's cool and all, but it's still basically another Guilty Gear because only the characters changed.

And isn't Guilty Gear just another Street Fighter II anyway?

Yeah, this whole way of thinking is kinda akin to calling Half-Life a Doom clone.

No, it's more like calling Counter Strike another Half Life game because it uses the same systems and engine, and it is. Why are you getting so defensive about this? Guilty Gear had characters with their own mechanics as well.

Which it isn't. You clearly haven't played much Half Life or CS if you honestly think that they're essentially the same.

I didn't say it's the same game, I said it's basically another version of the same game, just like how BlazBlue is another version of Guilty Gear. Counter Strike is a MOD of Half-Life, and it used to be called Half-Life: Counter Strike. So yes, it IS another version of Half-Life.

I don't see it this way at all. Just because they share the same engine doesn't mean they are the same game. Weekday Warrior is a Half-Life 2 mod - They feel nothing alike. If you can point me to the part in Half-Life where I buy my weapons with money earned by acting as a part of a team, or the part in Counter-Strike where I take on a multitude of inhuman creatures with complex AI partners as I navigate environmental hazzards...

I'll give you that BlazBlue has many mechanical similarities with Guilty Gear, but that doesn't mean that they are the same game. The very act of making the control set-up three standard attacks plus a special function button, instead of just four standard attacks, made sure of that.

Having a few differences doesn't make it not two different versions of the same game. BlazBlue has more similarities to GGXX than GGXX has to GGX. GGXX added a button, too. They may have made a lot of changes, but it's still Guilty Gear in the end.

Well, I'm not since I never bought the games. However, I have a backup copy of the PC version of #Reload and "Guilty Gear: The Bootlegs" for the Dreamcast, which has GGX and a Bleemed version of Guilty Gear 1.

Same here.

Just, please... do something new with it.
Ditto.

And personally, I can't wait until the current-gen home consoles have their own GG game (not counting PSP or the Xbox version of GGXX you can get from XBL... or the Dynasty Warriors knockoff).
