Weird-ass RPGs?

Seems like any modern day RPG is by definition weird.

I'm playing through the first Shadow Hearts now and.....yeah its pretty weird. I love that it has a dark edge to it and the characters are great as well.

Is the first game any good? I have Covenant because I rented it and thought it was brililant. I got from the new world because it was ten bucks and I loved Covenant. I'm kind of interested in what happaned before Covenant but I'm not sure if it's worth getting.

If you loved 2 & 3 you'll love one as well. Only thing that bothered me a little was the prerendered backgrounds. They seem a little low res choppy looking in some areas. I'm also playing on my PS3 on a HDTV so I'm sure that has something to do with it. Nothing big, but something that I had noticed. I will say it has a top notch story, characters and monster designs though. Great series and I hope they make more, its a shame you don't see may games like this these days.
