Was it the first Prince of Persia or the second one where you pretty much end up in hell fighting skeletons?
I do remember figuring out the glitch in sword fighting when fighting the final boss - get them up against the wall and time your swings so you hit them as they come back from the wall (it is unblockable).

Re: Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands
ok fine...sob... But after playing The Sands of time which had such tight control, I had no patience for the original that I unlocked. I think I'm going to go back to it now if only to try and reclaim some pride.nickfil wrote: If this were a movie, a waiter would come buy with your 'I beat ninja gaiden' card and cut it in half to your shock and horror.
but seriously- the original PoP is fucking hard. You gotta trial and error that guy until you get it right. Part of the difficulty (if i remember correctly, it has been a long time) is that depending on where he is in the animation of the run, you may or may not be able to jump.

Re: Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands
I would like to see a POP game combine various elements from every game so far. I think the combination of stealth and platforming in Two Thrones was absolutely brilliant. I like the combat from Sands of Time the best as well as the puzzles. The one on one combat system from the latest one would be good for bosses, but it needs work as the system has a lot of problems. I like how Elika was worked into the game as an assist character, but having her save you from death all the time was a bad idea. The rewind feature from Sands of Time is better because it has limited use so they need to somehow bring that back. They also need to ditch the "auto-pilot" platforming from the newest POP game as well as those stupid running and flying sections that were pure crap.
There you have it, my ultimate POP game. Each installment since Sands has been hit and miss, it would be nice to get another PERFECT Prince of Persia game.
The movie is looking pretty good from what I've seen. Isn't the Pirattes of Caribbean guy doing it? Seems like a natural fit. He can do this right

When I got the first power, I chose the green one, and I found that one quite ridiculous but I delt with it. The second power I chose was red and my reaction went from meh, to what the hell. The third power I chose was the yellow one. By that time I had labelled the game as my least favourite PoP game and abandoned any hope of the gameplay getting any better.Gamerforlife wrote:I would like to see a POP game combine various elements from every game so far. I know how you feel, it wasn't as good as I'd hoped. I think it was decent overall and I don't mind that they were experimenting a bit, but those running/flying sections were just awful and the boss battles too often degraded into stupid QTEs and mini-games. I heard the DLC was just god awful too, worse than the main game(-_-) wrote:When I got the first power, I chose the green one, and I found that one quite ridiculous but I delt with it. I found the environments incredibly epic. There are a lot of spots where you can see the entire area and your jaw drops. But yeah, the whole game feels like a giant quick time event without most of the prompts. And it's great how when the game does prompt you, it's usually to tell you to hit R2 to counter the attack that is about to hit you so your timing is thrown completely off.

Slightly off topic, but you reminded me of a part in Brutal Legend where you're racing across a bridge as it falls apart. Ophelia tells you at one point to go to the right and she says that JUST as you drive over the center part of the bridge that collapses. Thanks for the late warning Ophelia. It's things like this that you wonder how they slip past testers(-_-) wrote:I found the environments incredibly epic. There are a lot of spots where you can see the entire area and your jaw drops. Re: Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands
i had just borrowed the new PoP from a friend and right after i beat the first bosses, i got bored fast, theres like nothing to do in this game other than collect those stupid orbs, so hopefully this new one will be better
Re: Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands
Maybe this is a lesson to all of us. Don't make the expectations too high. The developers were experimenting with something new, and we were expecting it to be great right away. I think since they've already experimented with a full game plus some dlc, they should have a good idea of what worked and what needs to be changed, which might be a majority of the game. I think one thing that they can keep the same is the relationship between the Prince and Elika. I would literally take a few minutes out of playing time just to listen to the optional conversations because of how entertaining I thought the pair were together.

Yeah- It has the assassin's creed problem, which is funny because it is the same company and they put those games out like back to back. I liked the characters/environments, but somewhere along the way they forgot to make a great game to go with that. The combat was stiff (which is the last thing you want for a pop game), enemies were boring, the 'powerups' were all pretty much the same, and you could sleepwalk through the platforming because of the no fail system. The only reason i even finished it was because you could play the thing in two days because it was so fucking easy.Veno wrote:Maybe this is a lesson to all of us. I didn't even know they made DLC for the thing. That game was so here one week and gone the next.
I had the same interaction. Got the first powerup and expected some kind of platform mechanic. Some way the prince would jump that would aid him in either combat or platforming. Then i just kinda.... flew around instead? So i assumed that I probably just picked poorly. Then i expected a cool combat thing the next time because the combat really needed improvement. But i just end up flying around again. ugh(-_-) wrote: When I got the first power, I chose the green one, and I found that one quite ridiculous but I delt with it.
