Hmmm, that MIGHT be a deal breaker for me, but we'll see.

I'm going to have to try the demo, the only problem I ever had with the Devil May Cry series, and I'm not knocking it, is that the gameplay just never felt intuitive enough. It seems like you have to work too hard to get Dante to do what you want him too. I've beaten DMC 1 and 3, but never was motivated to tackle the higher difficulties or go for S ranks because of that very reason. The NG games, flawed though they may be, control a bit better. It's easier to get Ryu to bust out some badass moves when you're not fighting the bad camera and hit and miss targeting system

Apparently, Hideka was only involved with the first DMC, so I was starting to hope that maybe he'd bring a new spin to this and not have it feel too much like DMC.

I've been looking forward to this ever since the first trailer, and it hasn't stepped out my radar yet. With Devil May Cry 3 and 4, I've finished all difficulty settings except for Dante Must Die and beyond, and seeing Bayonetta makes me think I'm gonna replay it just as much. Man, I can't wait to get my new PS3 by the end of this month to get ready for Bayonetta.

I didn't like the trailers I downloaded from PSN. Maybe it was the large amount of fan-service footage (butt and boob close-ups and such) or how the game looked so similar to the DMC series. I like the DMC series, but I don't get excited about them. (ok maybe just a little)

Suprisingly to me, it got such great reviews, so I'm going to give it a shot when it reaches local stores.

As a huge fan of the DMC series (especially 1 and 3), this is a day one purchase for me. The demo is a blast, and I can't wait to see the full game.

But with Ninja Gaiden, all of your combos are predetermined by button sequences and you can't define your own combos. Most of the game degrades into Flying swallow and Izuna drops and counters. I never used any other weapon or moves, and there was never any motivation to do so. In DMC you have to work harder to pull off combos that are diverse in order to fill your style guage so you're inclined to keep switching things up. It also bothers me constantly that Ryu is so hilariously fast, that his recovery time for actions becomes frustrating and he has no move cancels. I still love Ninja Gaiden though.

Actually, I'd say most of the game degrades into UT spamming, at least when I play. But yeah, I get your point. Personally, I hated how the DMC games forced you to constantly alternate combos and switch weapons to keep your style rating up. Frankly, I find it hard enough just worrying about how I'm going to survive in games like this. I don't really want to have to worry about being fancy too. That's what I like about NG games, the focus is just you finding what works for any situation and just sticking to it. It's not about making it look pretty, just getting the damn job done. I think it's admirable how DMC games force you to CONSTANTLY switch things up, but for me it's just annoying

For those worried about the controls, Bayonetta is the best there is out there. Basically, the very instant you think about the punch button, Bayonetta would have already done it on screen. The controls are spot on. You can also cancel anytime you want by jumping, dodging etc.

Like I said earlier, the game is challenging. And the controls are so good that you won't find it tedious or tiring to execute moves in the game like you would in games like Ninja Gaiden or DMC.

Considering the quality of the game, the PS3 port is very disappointing especially the load times. Seriously, how could they have left out an 'Install option'?

To balance out the negative and so-so perceptions of the game:

Bayonetta is pure awesome. The music, style and pure Sega-ness of it (yes, it is directed my the DMC dude, but it is LOADED with AM2 and Sega references) makes it a must buy. It already has taken Japan by storm and, in my opinion, will be one of the top games of 2010 (I'm not saying this in terms of sales, but it may very well kick ass in that department as well).

I haven't been this excited for a Sega game since Jet Set Radio Future.

Played a little bit of the demo. I actually dig the two button scheme, sometimes it's nice to keep things simple and the game does feel very fluid.

You know it's sort of nice to see a game like this with a female lead. There's a bit too much testorone in the action genre. Kratos, Dante, Ryu, Wolverine, Shinobi, etc. Kudos for someone finally letting the ladies in on the fun.

I'll check this one out when it's released. It is Sega after all. Most of us here love that company
