So I bought a Neo Geo CD system.
Re: So I bought a Neo Geo CD system.
Oh man, the first thing I'd probably look into are all those fighters and the Metal Slug series.

Yeah ordinarily I would've thought that these go for $100+ depending of course on the condition and whether or not the sale is for a boxed system.lisalover1 wrote:Henry, you are one lucky dude. Now I feel like a total idiot for buying mine yesterday for $140, with 1 controller and no games.
But over the past week I've actually noticed a few going for low prices.
Here's one with included 6 games and it sold for only $56.

I see the above seller has a boxed system currently at $48. It would be interesting to see how much that ends up fetching.

Re: So I bought a Neo Geo CD system.
Everyone has pretty much mentioned all the good games that I know of already. I just wanted to give you a warning about the Metal Slug series.
The first Metal Slug is awesome in any format you find it in. Load times are great on the NGCD so if you can find a copy of it buy it, you won't regret it.
The second Metal Slug (Metal Slug 2) suffers from a lot of in-game slow down, to the point that it is almost impossible to enjoy in co-op mode. Unless your looking to play it just to see what it is all about I would avoid it. If you do want to play it try it in an emulator before you decide to buy it for the NGCD. Aside from the in-game slowdown (present in all versions) the load times are more than tolerable on the NGCD.
SNK released Metal Slug X a few years later to address the slowdown problem in part 2. IMO X is the best game in the series and is what part 2 should have been. Sadly it was not released in CD format.
BTW nice deal you got there. I paid over $100 for mine with no games and one controller.

I highly recommend you get a hold of Windjammers (aka. Flying Power Disc). It's not too expensive and it's my, and apparently many others as well, favourite game on the system.BlackDS wrote:I'll post some pics when I get the system.

I wouldn't call the NGCD rare, though. Uncommon would be more accurate.
