I agree that the designers got this right - motion was used sparingly and to good effect. I've recently started playing Red Steel and I dont mind the sword fighting too much but shaking the nunchuk to open doors, reload, press switches, pick up guns just pisses me off. Its totally unnecassary.

Be interesting to see how NMH works without motion control. Its my favourite game ever dispite its flaws. I'm really looking forward to Desperate Struggle - I may even pay full price for it at launch.

agreed. The second i have to waggle in place of a button press i lose interest. I have no more heroes, but i never got into it. In fact, there isn't a whole lot of wii games that I've gotten into.

I don't think I'm the demographic for nintendo anymore.
This baffles me..
oh- I don't mean to say that NMH does the waggle poorly. I totally came across that way. I was jumping from one thought to another. NMH is one of the few that has it right. I'm just saying I don't really want to waggle in the first place.

The thing is, I don't really understand why the waggle needs to be in every single wii game that comes out, but the pointer doesn't.

I'm still waiting on my port of the witcher on the wii. That game only uses a few buttons and a mouse. Mechanics that are totally doable on the wii. Or my civ revolution wii port. Those kinds of games were made for the wii (not literally, obv). I just can't help but feel like every time i try a new wii game that i am actually a little cheated on deep gameplay.

Mostly the wii is packed with brawlers with waggle, light gun games, sidescrolers, and mini game packs. Obviously there are exceptions, but by and large that is my experience with most things. I would love for more games like Metroid Prime 3 to come out. I would love a zelda made for the wii. Or maybe a western rpg. Something that i can get immersed in. Something that I feel like isn't talking down to me. I've played so many fucking sidescrollers now that a new one although entertaining is never going to enthrall me and keep me playing. New mario brothers is the big seasonal release for the wii. It is a good game. I've only casually played it so far. I've switched back to dragon age.

Sadly- what i said before is true. I just don't think i'm the target of the wii demographic. That isn't to say i don't enjoy some games on there. I do enjoy quite a few. But I've never played a wii game where I said i was going to stop playing in an hour and actually stop once i realize the sun is coming up.

I'll agree with this. I can't tell you how many times I've dreamed about playing StarCraft, The Neverhood, or Snatcher with motion control on Wii...let alone Nintendo's own original IPs like StarFox or a new Pikmin.

Sadly, I think the financial success of the Wii ran away with most of it's creative success.

oh fuck yes. Give me a wii port of starcraft with online multiplayer. That shit would be a system seller. And god, a remake of snatcher or policenauts would be riveting.

Unfortunately i think you are right. Why make games like that when mini games are selling like crazy and are super cheap to build?
