Super Famicom Help
Super Famicom Help
I just bought a Super Famicom and well this may be a dumb question but can I use an American R/F (NES) switch for video? If so, what channel do I need to put it on. I searched for an answer but came up with nothing. Thanks for the help.
Re: Super Famicom Help
Yes, but it will probably have to be on channel 90-something.millerjm2 wrote:I just bought a Super Famicom and well this may be a dumb question but can I use an American R/F (NES) switch for video? Why use an RF switch? Buy a proper composite cable. The same one is used for the SNES, N64 and Gamecube. Common as sheep in New Zealand.

Where's my chippy? There's my chippy.
Re: Super Famicom Help
Yeah I tried that and nothing, I will grab some AV cables tomorrow. Thanks for the help.

Get a new (old) TV? I've heard that some people have had trouble getting Japanese RF hook-ups to work on their TVs, but I'm not sure the reason. I've never had a problem myself, using a Trinitron (from about 1995).millerjm2 wrote:Yeah I tried that and nothing, I will grab some AV cables tomorrow. Thanks for the help.

Re: Super Famicom Help
The connector in the back was loose; I should have known. A little waggle and the system worked fine. If the mods deem it necessary, you may close this topic up as I have solved my predicament. Thanks for the help without it I would have never been able to not understand all these horse racing games I have.

Re: Super Famicom Help
The problem is actually very simple. If you look on the back of your Super Famicom, it says channel 1 &2. If you look at the channel options on an American style rf adapter, it says channel 3 &4. Best bet is to use the composite cable, gives the best video and sound quality, imho.
Re: Super Famicom Help
It's still a good thread, as the information about channel 95/96 is here.millerjm2 wrote:The connector in the back was loose; I should have known. A little waggle and the system worked fine. Re: Super Famicom Help
Try 93 Channel and make sure you are plug it right.
Re: Super Famicom Help
First off I am in America, so it shouldn't be hard to come across some cables; in fact I may have an extra lying around.
The reason I bought the system and the games is, well I am a sucker for in box stuff and this guy had about 40 games in box, including the Super Famicom. So, everything looks really, really nice. I'll try to throw up some pictures when I have a chance and perhaps you guys can help me identify what I have.
