aren't you thinking of Hit & Run? The newest game is The Simpsons game, which I thought was a platformer.
Nope- i'm thinking of the simpsons game. It is a platformer, but it is also kind of a puzzle game. Different simpsons have different abilities and you can use them to get to different areas of Springfield. The actual levels are pretty linear, but to get to them, you trot around a sandbox world of Springfield with the options of collecting items and stuff around town.

I haven't played hit and run yet. I hear it is really good though... It is on the to buy list. .

Also- if the simpsons/ea came out with a whole game like this, that included a solid multiplayer shooter game, i would play the shit out of it.

I also like that joke were Ralph calls that guy "SuperNintendo Chalmers"

and the one were bart shoplifts that mortal kombat ripoff i think it was called Bone crusher? or somthing like that, then mario and sonic come out

Image

Mario "taka da game bart"
Sonic "TAKE IT! TAKE IT! TAKE IT!"

what season is that from?

also:

"Would you like to play again?

you have selected NO"

as for the games, Of course the Arcade is the best, i kinda liked Simpsons wrestling. i found the crazi taxi clone and hit and run kinda boring

my favorite simpsons episode is "22 short stories about springfield." so many awesome bits.

probably my favorite game is the egg/tomato throwing part in virtual bart. spent a LOT of time doing that.

@Nickfil, oh I see. I never played the new one. But apparently Hit & Run is totally sandbox. Like a Springfield GTA.

my favorite parts of the simpsons are the little sight gags that are only on screen for a second.

My favorite episode is either the Shary Bobbins episode or the Hank Scorpio episode.

I pretty much paraphrase Scorpio whenever someone asks me for my phone number. I tell them, "I've never had to call myself."

I think the actual quote is, "I've never had to call my own office."

Scorpio is definately a great one. I also like the Cape Feare episode, as the rake scene was just inspired genius. Hell, all of the Sideshow Bob ones are good, because Kelsey Grammer gets so into the role. And Lisa's Rival, while not a great episode overall, had some really great moments. Milhouse on the run from the FBI (include a great Fugitive homage) and "I bent my Wookiee" are the real jewels of the episode.

"That's where I met the Leprechaun. He told me to burn things."

I quote that from time to time. Good stuff.

it's nice that this topic got off ground much quicker than the one i tried to create a while ago :)

so is that explorable game called simply "the simpsons game"? if someone could confirm, i'd appreciate it. from the wikipedia entry, it sounds like the one.

for the past year or so, i've been trying to write a list of some of the funniest quotes from the simpsons... at least the first 10 seasons. after that point, i tend to get lost and find a lack of funny stuff (especially troy mcclure!) at some point, i hope to create a blog or a database of searchable quotes. and maybe a more complete list of what movies/educational films troy mcclure has been in (had a bookmark before, but i've since lost it). on that topic, does anyone else here follows eye on springfield? it's a good way to remember funny stuff from those earlier seasons without having to watch an episode:
http://eyeonspringfield.tumblr.com/

i'm planning on someday making a similar site with my own screencaps, quotes, and hopefully even compilation movies. i know some dvds have tiny compilations like "best of mr. burns", but i'd like to make specialized ones... best of a particular episode, etc.
