Just because some overly creative artsy business man writes a book doesn't mean it's right.jmbarnes101 wrote:Go read Dan Pink's book titled 'A Whole New Mind' and than answer your question.the7k wrote:I always liked the image that had the Mac and PC guys, saying "If you were a business, who would you hire?"
Seriously, would you hire the awkward yet well-intending professionally dressed worker, or would you hire the smart-assed "artsy" slacker who probably hasn't worked an honest job in his entire life?
Now I will agree the application of some subjective whole picture thinking can be a good thing. Doesn't mean an over indulgence in it would be awesome either.
I wouldn't want to hire a reclusive sociopath who can only stare into his monitor and barely stutter a word to anyone. But damn those logics of his are so keen I want to punch him in his face.
Extremes are bad... VERY BAD. And the egotistical hippie dippie impression that "the7k" was referring to is that of the character portrayed in the Mac ads. And I'm sorry I don't think anyone would want to hire that in the business industry... maybe in the art industry. But having a moderate in between guy ready for work and well intentioned, over a hooting dick weed... sounds the better choice in my book.
Throwing away logistics and part-broken-organization is a BAD thing. Especially in an age of technology. No matter how "OUT OF THE BOX" the boss is, if it weren't for me and my peers, his whole entire business would tumble to the ground. In the same respect with out that big mouthed social butterfly, I wouldn't get a fucking job, because when it comes to that free thinking non-structure what the crap I hear parroted by these mumbos... well I don't get it... and for some reason the industry wants someone at the front of the company, a face to look at and talk to, who can blabber on like that. They don't want to hear boring old me talking about fiscal responsibilities and pie graphs, etc etc. Subjective and big picture thinkers (right brainers) miss out on a few key parts... realizing the nitty gritty which needs to get done, and it alienates large groups of people. Take Mac for instance, they serve popularly well to a small niche of the market... the brand huggers. But they alienate a massive population of people that you just don't hear from because they don't give a fuck enough about Mac to care to say anything. Why do you think Jobs stands at the front of the company, but wozniak sits in the shadows... he's not the hooting dick wad right brainer Jobs is... but do you think Apple could stand on two legs with ONLY Jobs? (forgiving the facts about what Woz is there now a days... seeing as he's not really a owner or anything anymore).
Right brainers aren't taking over business. They're becoming the mascots of business. (I'm lumping right brain, liberal thought, open box, over confident BS into a box... oh I have wonderful experiences with this in the business world... and the regular employee just grits their teeth and prays big boss will shut the fuck up and just let us do our job damn it.)
So yeah, unless mr Mac fag can come in and say he knows how to do more then just edit the photos he took at the bar last night. I don't care if you made a goofy video of you and your mom in the mac store... can you fucking produce something viable!? Something not any joe schmoe could!? (Mr. Mac fag is not all Mac users, it's the archetypical Mac fag portrayed through the character in question in the mac ad).
