Having experience with a couple generics, logitech is your best bet if you can't find the genuine Microsoft controller. They are the only company that doesn't skim on the quality of the build. If i buy third party, I'll only buy from them. Honestly, you can go either way, Logitech controllers are just as good.
I second that recommendation. I bought like 5 Logitech Precision wireless controllers earlier this year off Ebay. They're great quality.

I second this Nickfil. I love my Logitech cordless Xbox controller as well. Its better than any controller Microsoft ever produced. The D-pad is vastly superior to the MS ones.

That was the best controller ever for Xbox in my opinion. It was just so great, I hate the dongle thing though. (I used it at friends houses all the time and I had the PS2 equivilent which was pretty much the same minus triggers.)

I forgot about those. I had one of the cordless ones along with my 1st XBOX and liked it enough. i will have to track one down.

speaking of which, wasn't there some news that m$ was going to release a new 360 controller with an improved d-pad?
Hmm. Never heard that. But you're definitely right about the d-pad - it bites the big one. That's why the SFIV Fightpad was a gift from Heaven
Yeah, they made one but I think I remember reading Japan being the only ones to get it though.
Nope, Europe also got it as a limited edition controller (I can't remember what color, I think it was green?) for the release of Fifa '09 last year.
