The point about the PS2 becoming an open platform is an important one. I think that Sony was aiming for the developing markets like Russia, India, etc., when they dropped the price last week. I also hope devs will take advantage of the install base to make some interesting indie-style games. But digital distro is coming on strong, and the idea may be dead before it even gets a chance.

No one ever have any issues with their PS2's breaking and Sony refusing to fix it? I just know I worked retail in college during the launch and the three years after and Sony's customer service left such a bad taste in my mouth that "love" is the last thing I think of when talks of the PS2 come up. I know the hardware issues with the 360 are well documented, but at least Microsoft extended the warranty and stood behind their faulty product while Sony gave their customers the run around just last gen.

Bump! (The PS2 is not dead yet, so why should this old thread die?)

The trailer for the new Jak & Daxter looks pretty cool!

Also, MotorStorm: Arctic Edge just came out and got some good reviews. (though it's supposedly better on PSP because the PS2 version doesn't have online gameplay and is missing a few other features).

The PS2 really is an amazing console. I currently have 113 games for it and still have about 30+ games on my want list!

Same here, though my laptop can play a lot of the current generation of games.

I'm sorry, but the console with the best library is (and always will be) the Atari 2600. ;)

Wow. If that isn't gaming addiction then I don't know what is! :D

Ya know.. a few weeks ago, I finally got a bigger tv (for free!) that has component connections and was surprised with how much cleaner and sharper my PS1 and PS2 games looked via component rather than the old standard composite. I was extremely surprised and very happy with the results. So it has since breathed new life into my PS2 gaming. I find that I now want to revisit my favorite old games and play the system more often, as well as find new ones such as Guilty Gear XX: Accent Core Plus and Motorstorm: Artic Edge.
