No morph, just worded myself in a more reaonable manner. Off to bed guys, goodnight.

PS - the government still makes there guidelines. Always struck me as odd, why is it ok for me to see a guy get shot to hell on prime time over the air tv, but I cannot see janet jacksons tit? One gives life and the other takes it? that would be a good debate!

wclem wrote:You just dont want to keep giving the government more and more say in your life. Let me list a few:
Helmet Laws
Seat Belts
Assisted Suicide
We have those laws because there are people too stupid to do it without being told. Why does it matter if some dumbass doesn't wear a seatbelt? Because that same dumbass might not have health insurance because he can't afford it, and guess who's footing the bill when he gets hurled out his windshield! Even if he does have insurance, it's people who do stupid stuff like this who cause car insurance rates to skyrocket.

You are right that they want a "fine" for people who don't have health insurance. Basically it's the extra tax you are paying for this government run healthcare option. If you have healthcare, whether it be under a private insurer, or the government program, you will not be fined. If you are below a certain income and can not afford insurance, you will not be fined.

As far as going to prison, the fines are so low that there is a very very small chance of going to prison for it, but the idea that has been getting floated around is basically a total exaggeration and makes it sound like "You don't buy government healthcare = you go to prison". You can go to prison for not paying your taxes already, this is really no different.

Oh and as for "That is a job for parents, not someone who sees a few screenshots of a game."

The parents were the ones asking for a rating system. And the people who rate games for esrb ARE parents. Not to mention, it is the parent of the child who makes the final decision whether to buy the game or not. The government is not telling a parent what their child can or cannot play. The only restriction I have heard so far is that many retailers will not sell M rated games to those uner 17, which is the decision of the retailer.

wow. how lovely it must be to not know history. hitler lost to russia, not the us/britain/france alliance. now japan was another thing, but don't be all patriotic about it, they attacked you first before you went to war (which was pretty dumb of them, but still doesn't change the fact that you didn't join the war from the start).

also you say how many lives would be saved if someone killed hitler, and that gives you reason to attack iraq.

well on the contrary that has made matters much worse. north korea and iran saw what happened to iraq when it played by UN's rules. that's why they play around with nuclear weapons, to SHOW the world that they have them.

and I don't get it. you don't mind paying for a war to "save" lives, as you say, but you mind paying for a public health care system that will save lives for sure?

Somebody needs to go back to history class.

Anyway if anything we are even or owe the French. There would be no USA without the French. Their navy is what in the end allowed us to win the revolution.

I wish I had the time and energy to properly curtail wyclem like I might've in my younger days. I just don't have it in me anymore. The comparison to slamming my head into a concrete wall just feels too real to me now.

We repayed the french, and no, russia was saved by the winter, it was the cold that stopped hitler on the western front. Read your history.

The french fell in six weeks and nobody else could stand up to him. SteP in the USA, and everything changes.

Iraq was following the UN rules? WTF

The UN is pointless.

Yes by the way, the French were payed for their efforts in the revolutionary war.

As for the fine for not paying for your health insurance, take a look at what happens if you dont pay the fine and get coverage, it climbs a little. Odd, if I dont have insurance then I probably dont have money for it. Therefore if I get fined I am even further behind, do you see the cycle here?

do you even pay attention to what you are saying? it was the cold that stopped hitler in the western (????) front?

and you are talking like the russians didn't have to fight in the same cold as the germans. Just because you get used to it, doesn't make you immune to cold.

also when hitler invaded france he was only fighting a war on 1 front, the french army didn't have a couple of years to prepare, and they didn't have a freaking ocean between them to protect them. heck hitler couldn't cross the channel to take over britain, I hardly think he had any chance of being an actual threat to the us. at least as long as he didn't invent the atomic bomb first.

and if you really knew history you would have known that the cold only slowed down the germans, it was the russian general's counter tactic to blitzkrieg that won the war.
