Just wondering before I buy House of the Dead JP there isn't anything stupid that I should worry about. Like my American TV and light gun not working with the game.

I've owned and played a JP copy of HOTD for years.

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.

What kind of TV do you have? Lightguns only work on tube TVs. If you have ANY kind of flatscreen (even CRT), it won't work.

Yeah it is a nice tube tv. It has 3 av hook ups and s video. I heard some video comes off black and white if not displayed with the right cables. I just wanted to make sure. I am getting bored with my current light gun games (Virtua Cop, Revolution x, Area 51, and Crypt Killer).

Well, I used to own House of the Dead, but sold it since I'm not using a tube TV (along with my guns). Mind you, that was a Japanese TV. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work on an American TV. Then again, I've heard that the Sega brand Dreamcast gun doesn't work on American TVs (or was that systems?), so I guess you can never assume.

Was it a Japanese brand tv or a tv formated for the Japanese market?
