I suppose I am Neurotic based on this. A lot of these questions seemed squarely aimed at my son who is ADHD so I wonder if there is relation between Aspies and ADHD.
It's not neurotic... it's neurotypical.

neurotic means - relating to neurosis. Which is a class of mental disorders involving distress, but no hallucinations or delusions. This includes OCD, hysteria, some forms of depression, phobias, and anxiety disorders, amongst others.

neurotypical - is more or less a PC way of saying "normal". It is said to be coined by the autistic community (asperger's is a form of autism, so is tourettes and several others that most people don't realize) as the PC way of saying some one who doesn't have autism.

So falling on the neurotypical side just means you're probably normal.

And this is not just aimed at you jp1, you're just the most recent poster saying "neurotic". Sorry if this sounds like me bitching. But it can cause confusion... very similar to that word "conversate" that seems to plague our nation in the generation.

As for the ADHD thing, I'd like to know... I'm not sure what class of disorders ADHD falls under. I know it's classed generically as a psychiatric disorder, and that it is considered a developmental disorder... but beyond that not sure... it does also have a few sub-types as well, meaning it can be a class of its own. But in the end psychological disorders classes tend to be very generic and different disorders bleed over several lines... but that's more or less our very amateur understanding of the human brain as an intellectual species. I mean really our understanding of the brain is so ridiculous I laugh sometimes about how we can be so certain about these things.

There are studies (and books) out there that describe the similarities and try to link ADHD with autism.

 Man they need to have a PC term for everything these days. I would have been pissed if the test would have just classified me as typical or normal..it is a good thing they have a non offensive term.

That certainly is the politics of freedom and equal rights for us now a days. Equal rights has evolved into this deconstruction of the English language to protect people's precious feelings... ::shakes head::

I find it sad that we don't actually fight for causes that are actual for equal rights (i.e. gay rights)... but instead every time a word starts to sound any bit offensive we strike it from our vocabulary and replace it with another...

the stupid thing is the PC words over time become derogitory. Retard at one point was a clinical non-offensive word. Lamens started using it by saying, "oh it's a retard" offensively. The word wasn't offensive, it was the intent of the user. But now today "retard" is considered derogatory, and we now have a more asinine word to replace it... "mentally challenged".

Just wait, that'll become derogatory and we're going to have to say, "a-typical neuro-synaptical responsive person"

where will it stop? We're going to end up sounding like John Kerry waling around being all PC. (anyone hear Kerry's name for the Cap and Trade plan???... "the polution reduction and investment insentive mechanism")

HA, I just had to watch mondays episode of daily show again because of that... I love Stewart's joke about how Kerry would say "bumper sticker".

I was about to make the same comment as you, LoD, that neurotypical wasn't the same as neurotic. George Carlin has a really good bit on political correctness. You should give it a listen sometime.

I think I was the first to say something about being neurotic, though I meant somebody else had said I was, while the chart pointed to me being "normal."

...So you don't have Pac-Man fever?

I just had an EEG this morning, my Doctor thinks I might have tourettes syndrome, yay mental diseases for everyone! Hope you get the needed treatment.

Well this has certainly led to interesting discussion. Also interesting that a bunch of people have a similar profile.

Anyway, here's what I got back. Not sure I agree with it though. I know I have some compulsive tendencies, but they're focused on specific things and not to the point of being debilitating. Still would have expected a bigger spike on the aspie compulsive area.

Also, thought this questions was interesting. "Are you hypo- or hypersensitive to physical pain, or even enjoy some types of pain?" I cut and scrape myself up all the time and find it later or once I start bleeding on something. I wanted to answer about a 4 or 5 on that one.
