Definitely. I think mouse & keyboard should be an option in every FPS, console or otherwise. I was thinking about making a trackball controller for the Dreamcast.
I found another hidden area in the Water Sanctuary. It's near the quad damage power up. It's difficult to explain how to get to it. I might make another video later.

Re: Outtrigger appreciation thread
Ill be interested - I need to buy another mouse so I can play this game two player properly. Granted that means I wont be able to save...hmm.
There was a controller released similar to the arcade layout - Panther DC. The trackball is fairly rubbish on it, but it is a neat looking device.

Re: Outtrigger appreciation thread
There's a guy here in Austin selling one of the Panther controllers. Thanks for the tip. I was considering looking at it but now not so much.
Yeah, I wonder how a dual keyboard and mouse setup would work with a VMU save. I guess you could boot the game with a controller/vmu attached and swap it out for the 2nd keyboard or mouse after the save file loads.

The panther had so much potential but it just fell flat for most titles. The ball is light and grinds alittle, the stick is decent but the hat and buttons are kinda shoddy. I wish it worked with my usb adapter so I could play Mechwarrior and Descent with it.

Same problem here. If I didnt already have so much to do tonight - I would bring out the Dreamcast.
And this is one title I would REALLY like someone to figure out how to get going again. Even if it is lan only. I really want to try it with 4 players, mouse/keyboard.

Agreed. It really sucks that the game doesn't seem to work with even the vs link cable.

Hmm, I bet some modding could make the panther better.fastbilly1 wrote:The panther had so much potential but it just fell flat for most titles. Funny you say that about Mechwarrior. When 3 was out and was playing it at lan parties, I was using a wingman extreme flight stick with my right hand and moved my mouse to my left hand for the reticle and aiming. Once my left hand got used to it, it worked really well.

Re: Outtrigger appreciation thread
Ive been looking into building mechpods again, and alot of the best Mechwarrior players use a joystick and a trackball or mouse. But I am going to opt for stick, throttle, and a trim joystick (instead of rudders). Gonna try a dry build in the near future.
Truth be told, if I could get one, I would want a trackball the size of a bowling ball. But the biggest that is made for a decent price is the size of a billiard ball. My knowledge of circuitry is not that great so it probably will never happen – but it would be awesome for a lan party or for a foyer/living room pc (especially if I can get a crystal ball).
If someone ever figures out the Outtrigger and Propeller Arena multiplayer (even if it is just through emulation) I will be very happy. Then a mouse/keyboard setup would be standard and a mouse/trackball/joystick setup would be easy to obtain.
