Wow. Emus -> SD card -> GBA flash cart -> GBA Player -> Gamecube is a pretty nice retro setup especially considering all the retro-y games already on the GBA library and some of the GCN comps you can get. Does the GBA Player play original GameBoy games as well?

While I haven't tried it, I'm pretty sure you can.
That reminds me, I did post about my love for the little add-on a while ago :)

Yes, GBPlayer plays GB/GBC/GBA games.

My favorite (and current) Retro setup is Gamecube with Gameboy Player. The combined libraries are amazing.

Yes, it will play classic GB games too. It acts like the Super Gameboy did and you get colors substituted for the grays.

So there's a chance that original GameBoy and GBC games could look half-decent on an HD TV with s-vid or even the component cables (if you could find them) using the GameBoy Player?

Yes. I have my GC hooked up with component and it looks pretty good from the couch. I'm too lazy to yank the S-video cable from the SNES and check, but I imagine it would be pretty good too.
