Only thing I have to say regarding this topic is Knuckles Chaotix.

The reason why Virtua Hamster sucks is because it is not in a playable state at all, there are no goals, and thus you do nothing but move around a tube.

I wouldn't worry too much about the metal spacers. I lost them long ago but I've never had any problems.
I haven't played kolibri but I need it. Knuckles Chaotix is entertaining if you like sonic games. The special stages are cool. Virtua Racing is good and some people seem to like Tempo although I think it sucks.
I wouldn't pay more than $25 for one. I've still got the box from mine which I got in 1996 and it's got the toys r us clearance sticker on it: $29.99.

That's good to know! I got a free 32X today at the flea market, but it didn't have any cords or spacers. I bought a Dreamcast and the guy threw in a VMU and the 32X for free! lJrecee wrote:I wouldn't worry too much about the metal spacers. I lost them long ago but I've never had any problems.
I have an extra A/C adapter for it, and I just ordered a link cord for my Genesis 2 for about $12 shipped from eBay, but I was a little stressed about the spacers. Thanks for making me feel better about not having them!
Re: 32X: Is it worth it?
Well, the spacer for Model 2 isn't metal at all, but plastic. I assumed by metal he meant the metal teeth used to hold open the cartridge slot used with Model 1. As for Model 2, I would imagine the 32x would be prone to wobbling without the spacer, but I can't say I've tried.

I don't have the clips or the spacer. It will wobble a little in a model 2 if you poke at it, but it should be fine as long as you're not messing with it.crux wrote:As for Model 2, I would imagine the 32x would be prone to wobbling without the spacer, but I can't say I've tried.
Once you get your cords JFE, if you have an issue with the 32x you might have to open it up and reseat the ribbon cables. Seems to be a common issue.

Re: 32X: Is it worth it?
Personally I think it's worth it, there are a handfull of worthwhile gaming experiences you can't find on other consoles;
. Blackthorne - imo this is the number 1 reason to own a 32x. Yes, Blackthorne was released on the SNES, PC & Mac, but it's the 32x port that really shines with a wider colour palette, enhanced graphics and a whole new area (the other ports have 4 areas, but lack the 5th Snowy Pass area only present in the 32x version).
. Kolibri - ahh, hummingbird shmup. What a strange concept that works so very well. This is from the guys who made Ecco, so it's no suprise that the 2d visuals are lush, vibrant and very well designed.
. Knuckles Chaotix - maybe not as finely honed as other Sonic games, Knuckles Chaotix often gets a bad rap, but personally I really enjoy it's uniqueness and there's a lot of replay value.
. Star Wars Arcade - the only home port of this classic arcade experience.

Yeah, it really isn't all that good - the Saturn sequel Super Tempo was MUCH better.Jrecee wrote:some people seem to like Tempo although I think it sucks.

That's good information to know! It looks like its been used a lot, but its not too beat up or anything. I did get an official used cord from eBay, and not one of the newer generic ones. I figured the original cord would probably be the best idea.Hobie-wan wrote:Once you get your cords JFE, if you have an issue with the 32x you might have to open it up and reseat the ribbon cables. Those are actually the four titles I was leaning towards getting. Kolibri just sounds awesome to me for whatever reason, and Knuckles Chaotix is just a fun, unique take on the original Sonic gameplay.Bootaaay wrote:Personally I think it's worth it, there are a handfull of worthwhile gaming experiences you can't find on other consoles;

Re: 32X: Is it worth it?
A quick question for those who know anything about the 32X.
If I have a PAL MD2 with a 50/60HZ switch, will it output in color via composite cables if im using the 32X as a passthrough?
Was just thinking might be a better option than buying the SCART cable for $20AUD.

Re: 32X: Is it worth it?
So I've done it. After fifteen years of wanting a 32X I've finally bought one. System (like new condition) with ac adaptor, connector cable, conversion cable (sealed in baggy), Virtua Racing (boxed) and Star Wars Arcade (cart only). Total: $30 plus shipping.

Lame thing is, I had just bought a model 1 av cable. Then I won this auction, so I had to buy a model 2/3/Nomad/32X av cable. Aw well.
Now to find Chaotix and Kolibri...
