Maybe it's the lack of having the opponent next to you.
Not being able to smack them when they're spamming some move over and over and you have to resort to the same tactic to beat them.

Re: Street Fighter IV strategies
Ohh online... I play as Seth (yes I am a dousche like that) but anyways i see akumas start throwing the red fireballs and I think to my self "sweet free ultra" then I do my motion which I can do millions of times offline and i get teleport (eye twitch)
Things you shouldn't do against Seth
1. jump in (you will get dragon punched into his jump up combo which hurts)
2.throw projectiles when he has ultra (bad idea)
3. get stuck in the corner (the game is over pretty much then)
4. Do a move that dashes you forward ( balrog rushes, hurricane kicks, banishing flat, and most ultras) you will get that ex kick which is a very nice attack to stun you)
Things you should do against Seth
1. Get him in a corner (the game is pretty much over then)
2. Focus attack focus attack focus attack
3. Bait his heavy punches into something that will stun him (he stuns very easily)
4. Don't let up on him when you get that opening
Overall I feel Seth is a very nice character too bad he dies in 1 combo. But his ultra is amazing and he has sooooo many tricks.

Re: Street Fighter IV strategies
If you are having problems with Balrog :
A : Learn to throw him out of his dash punches. Learn which crouching Normal move your main (Ryu?) has that beats most of Balrogs dash punches clean. I think its crouching medium punch with Ryu.
B : Zone him with projectiles only while he is fullscreen. TAP and headbutt are safe but won't hit for him. Just don't let him build meter for free out there.
C : Be afraid when he has EX meter. Do everything you can to bait Rog into using meter. Do not jump in or away deep when Rog has Ultra, his link is easy and you will pay!
D : Crossups. Rog really only had one weak part of his game which is wake up. Deep medium kick crossups can really destroy a Balrog player. Just look out for his crouching fierce punch and headbutts. You've got to bait him out of down-back charge to avoid headbutt and start the crossups really deep.
E : Play as Zangief. I really hate Zangief, really really hate Zangief

Yeah, Zangief is a bastard. This is what I mean when I say the rules have changed. The in close fighters and grapplers like Zangief and Able are the ones to be feared, but Zangief used to be a piece of cake. You could just jump straight up and down and kick and Zangief couldn't get in close enough to do damage.
It used to be that the people that would camp out on the side of the screen and throw endless fireballs were the ones to worry about, but that's not so much the case anymore. It seems like a straightforward, in close, ground assault works just as well as the jump kicking or fireballing approaches used to in past iterations of the series.

Which I guess is a good thing. At least all the characters are useful.J T wrote:It used to be that the people that would camp out on the side of the screen and throw endless fireballs were the ones to worry about, but that's not so much the case anymore. thanks for posting the videos though. I'm fucking awful at the game and actually only put it in for a few hours before i couldn't take it anymore. The videos made me want to get back into it.
Re: Street Fighter IV strategies
Seth is the most infuriating end boss ever. I'm trying to beat him with C. Viper to unlock Cammie. In his first phase, he's totally easy. Holding forward and pushing hard kick is all that's needed. But the second phase, every move I throw at him, he has a way to hit me in the middle of my move. I'm getting ready to pull my hair out!

Re: Street Fighter IV strategies
It's well known that as soon as you hit Seth the computer turns into a cheating bastard. I've found, though, that when you're going for the unlocks the trick is to find a move that he doesn't handle well. At least on easiest he is very vulnerable to sweeps after he's knocked down, so you can keep him on the floor. He also can't handle El Fuerte's running throw. You can keep nailing him as he gets up and cheese him to victory.

Re: Street Fighter IV strategies
I wish I had the reflexes of the cpu Seth then I can be just an unfair bastard as he. (laughing as I do a million teleports into ex spd)
But the character I absolutely hate with a MAJOR PASSION...... SAGAT
Fuck sagat everything about him i good (cept speed but why would he need it)
Godly Jump ins [x]
Fastest Projectile recover (next to guile of course) [x]
Incredible reach [x]
Above average health [x]
Priority over everything [x]
Easy to land ultra [x]
I think this is what Capcom thought when they made Sagat
"Ok let's make Sagat like Super turbo but instead of balancing him for the new game let's just keep him as a god"

Re: Street Fighter IV strategies
I've always hated Sagat. I can't think of a single game he is in where he isn't God Tier.
I had a friend of mine who would always pick 3 Sagats on Capcom vs SNK 2. Son of a bastard.

Re: Street Fighter IV strategies
Has anyone really mastered the combo system in this game? I can pull off like a 2 or 3 hit combo, but anything beyond that and I'm stumped. I've been trying to do the challenge stages where they have you do combos, but I just can't figure them out. I try and I try, but they just don't click. Is the timing really that demanding, or am I doing something wrong? If I tap a button one too many times, will that cancel out my combo? If my joystick moves deviate slightly from the required pattern, will I lose the combo? I've noticed some of my two hitters work better if I make the joystick movements somewhat more deliberate in the special move portion.
