until you play The Lost Levels! The first game is a cake walk compared to it. Also I can't tell you how pissed I was when I realized the worlds included Letters. Beat the lost levels then THATS a real damn achievement. After beating the lost levels I was able to beat Super Mario Bros. using no warps in around 30-40 mins.

I have only played Lost Levels for like ten minutes but it is impossible. Congrats on beating it. That is a true accomplishment

I never did beat that game. I had the deluxe version for GBC. I can't play it now because for some reason it just crapped out and stopped working. I have it on the NesterDC disc, but playing on the Dreamcast controller just sucks. It feels weird.

I'm still stuck on world 7 on the All-Stars version. The only Super Mario game I've ever beaten it Super Mario World 2. :( However, I have made it up to the last level of SMW 1.

My wife and I are currently up to 8-2 on SMB1 Deluxe (GBC). So we're close.

I remember the first time I saw that game beaten. I was five years old, sitting on the floor with my younger brother, watching my dad play through. When he won, all three of us cheered. I eventually managed to beat it on my own, but it took me a few more years.

That sounds exactly like my childhood, except I was the younger brother. 1985. That and pac-man are the only games my dad played and he was obsessed with them. My dad is the person who showed me all the warp pipes and the almost infinte lifes trick. I still have not to this day beat the game without cheating. He could beat it with out losing a life and without losing the fire suit.
Where's my chippy? There's my chippy.
