Website tries to protect gay rights, with bad method

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

You could do the same for "retarded", couldn't you?
I would say that term is probably used just as often, if not more.
Just a thought.

Sigh. Most of the people that use the phrase "that's so gay" usually don't mean it in the homosexual sense more often than not. It is more like saying "that's stupid, retarded, dumb, ridiculous, etc."

The meanings of words change so much in the ever evolving language of English that a once neutral word like "gay" can been retooled by a certain group of people to change its meaning to represent what kind of lifestyle they chose to live.

Being told what is right to say and what not to say isn't something I support. Free speech was created to protect unpopular and harsh words, not to protect popular speech. Popular speech doesn't need protection as it is already popular and non-abrasive. People need to grow some thicker skin and know when people are really putting them down and when they're just casually saying something that may not be as socially acceptable as it should be. Just my two cents here.

Aaaaand that's the point. LOL

Wonder what the folks at gaygamer.net will have to say about it?

Not sure what they'd have to say. If they're as delusional as the ad firm that created the ad in the original post, we're doomed. I really hope they're above all that nonsense but who knows?

Oh come on! Who doesn't love curtis? He's tho hilaaarious!!!

Anyway, I propose a campaign to get gays to stop using the word gay. It's offensive to those of us who like saying things are gay.

Like when me and my friends are messing around in the shower room at the gym, and we start flicking eachothers penises. We're like "That's sooo gay!". And then gary flicks someones penis with his tongue and we're like "dude! Gary, that's even gayer!"

And then we have an orgy.

That was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the ad. Actually I've found a few games I hadn't tried yet by googling and then following reviews from that site. Most of the content I've found on it was good. I know a couple guys online and off that are otherwise oriented, but strangely, none of them like the site.

This could also possibly offend those with a few number of really good friends.

I would say that I have many acquaintances, but only a handful of friends I regularly hang out with. Even so, it would be ridiculous to think I'd have 150+ "friends". I mean, I have probably met that many people growing up, in school, at bars, and they might be Facebook "friends" but I don't think would call them actual friends.

IMO, "gamers" (I HATE that term) will continue to have a stigma attached to them, just like comic book collectors, Anime collectors, and so on. Mostly because our hobby, in general, is seen as childish and/or nerdy/geeky/anti-social.

Ok, I think I'm done rambling. I just wish once I could have my thoughts come out with a bit more coherence. But alas, I don't want to spend time piecing them together into an easily digestible package. :D
