I HIGHLY doubt that. Has there been any news pointing to a ramped up 160 GB production? If they just wanted people to buy the most expensive version, why would they have dropped the price in the first place? If there were really only trying to screw people out of money, they'd still be charging $600 for systems.

You're not exactly making a whole hell of a lot of sense.

The only announcement here is that they're discontinuing 80GB model. That's it. You can speculate all you want. I honestly can't see them bringing out a PS3 slim. Sony has a hideous track record in keeping things secret. If there was going to be a PS3 slim we would have known about it by now.

We DO know about it by now. Sure, a lot of the videos released have been blurry and possibly faked, but as soon as we saw the shots of the packaging for the PSP Go, which happened to share the same packaging for the PS3 Slim shots that were leaked, that all but sealed the deal.

You are right - Sony does have a hideous track record in keeping things secret. The PS3 Slim is no exception. We've been getting leaked footage from left and legal threats from Sony to take such things down from the right.

The PS3 Slim is coming, folks. It's likely to be announced at Games Con in Europe next week.

I'll eat my hat if Sony can actually do something right this generation for a change.

My $0.02 ...

I've never been a huge Sony fan. They had me on pretty good with the PSOne but lost my way with crossed platform on the oXbox with Live support. And totally lost me with the $599 price point for a BC system at launch. But $299 has a nice ring to it considering I could sell my PS2 and acc for around $100 and come home with a BluRay player for around $200.

There aren't too many PS3 games that are drawing my attention but nor did the PS2. I mostly would use it as a DVD player, PSOne game system, and then online games. But for the price I mentioned before that's good enough for me ...

Also, would prefer the chip over emulation but I checked all my games and have only found the typical MK Trilogy issue. I've still live with that too ...

Daamn that's an ugly piece of shit. I've seen can openers with a better shape than that.

I will seriously laugh myself silly if that's going to be the PS3 slim. If the George Foreman PS3Grill wasn't bad enough we now have the Sony Pooper-Scooper 3.

That's not only a terrible look, but a terribly fake mock-up. I wouldn't count on that being real.

When you consider the library available with full PS1 and PS2 bc, along with a growing library of PS3 games and PSN... it's a pretty sweet box if you can get it without taking out a mortgage.
