You liking this guy makes me want to never watch AVGN again. Honestly, it's 15-18 year olds like you that give anybody under 18 a bad name. I do think AVGN somewhat witty and is funny at times, but sometimes it's just like he is beating a dead horse now.
All the ladies they love me, from the bleachers they screamin
All the ballers is bouncin they like the way I be leanin
All the rappers be hatin, off the track that I'm makin
But all the hustlers they love it just to see one of us make it

I think AVGN is hilarious. i do admit his newer stuff is a bit softer, almost like he is too busy with his other projects and is just throwing the new videos together without much effects or side plots thrown in (I'm thinking the Bugs Bunny episode). He is a pretty good amateur writer, director, producer, etc. I have watched all his stuff (it was Christmas break and my wife worked all day leaving me home alone to clean) and he has some good stuff: if you are into amateur film, which is not necessarily all comedy. Check out his movie reviews, which are mostly about horror/sci fi movies. He has a great review of all the Godzilla films and a brief history of horror that includes a lot of silent film stuff. If you want more comedy his "You Know What's Bullshit" series is great. Here is the link to his own site:
http://www.cinemassacre.com/new/
Watch the CD-i episodes where he reviews the systems Zelda and Mario games
That is what got me to like him, check them out even if you haven't liked his other videos because it is an interesting introduction to those games (I had not heard of them before).

Plus, for all of the Nostalgia Critic and Spoony fans, don't be surprised if James has helped them write a few reviews (and vice versa). I watched the Irate Gamer review of TMNT, and not only did the Irate Gamer steal some of his jokes word for word, he also stole game footage straight from James' review.

James has hundreds of great short films, great movie reviews, great board game reviews, and of course, great video game reviews. I've been following his films since '06, and he's really great with his fan base, and so are his cronies. His advertising manager is a genuinely great guy, and has a sharp wit to boot.

Yeah, his cursing can get repetitive, but he's just playing to his audience. I connect with the guy because we are similar in a lot of aspects, except for the fact that his collection dwarfs mine, but I'm much better looking. (I was going to add a j/k, but then I thought "I am better looking", and I also thought adding "j/k would be lame).

Check out his short, "The Deader the Better". It's a lot of fun. My favorite short of his is titled Death Puppy. It reminds me a lot of the short films friends and I made in high school.
Damn sorry you already posted about his greatness... should have read the rest of the responses before posting :-/

I've hung out with James a bunch and he is completely different in real life. He's really cool and shy. You may know this from footage of him at panels and junk or if you've met him. It's crazy how much of a change he makes when he goes into character.

We were talking about doing a thing sometime where Keith Apicary and the AVGN come together and it's basically the "Happy" Video game nerd and "Angry" Video Game Nerd. Keith would love everything about Sega CD and AVGN would hate it.

Yeah, Nostalgia Critic, he reviews old shows and movies, not games. They beat the hell out of that, but it was funny. Especially the last one with the whole team battle.

I'm not sure who that is. I'll look for it. Theres talk about something between Keith and James at SGC next year. A main event of a Wrestlemania maybe. I think they should play Royal Rumble on Genesis.

Yeah man, definitely look up Nostalgia Critic's stuff, it's hilarious. He reviews one game which is Bebe's Kids for the SNES. And I made it a personal goal to go to SGC next year, so I would love to see Keith and The Nerd go at it! Maybe at WWF Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game on Sega Saturn?

I've been watching AVGN for the past year, and his shows are basically what inspired me into starting up my collection again. Most of his reviews are good, but its when he has guest characters (Joker, Bugs Bunny, Freddy) that it gets really good. DEFINITELY check out his newest review, Bugs Bunny in Crazy Castle, its hysterical. And if you wanna check out the Nostalgia Critic, go to thatguywiththeglasses.com. And check out his other 3 personas: Bum Reviews, Ask That Guy, and Video Game Confessions, they are all hands-down hilarious!
Intellivision, Atari 2600, Jaguar, NES, SNES, N64, GC, Wii, Sega Master System, Genesis, 32x, CD, Saturn, DC, PSOne, PS2, PS3, Xbox, Xbox 360, GB, Game Gear, Sega Nomad, Virtual Boy, GBA, DS, PSP.

Death be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadfull, for, thou art not so... for I have Game Genie.

If you watch his older stuff, you can see how small his game collection was. Even if he only gets another year out of this, it would have been worth it just to get the stuff he does. He mentions he didn't have a Saturn, and fans mail him 4. Must be nice. I do find his stuff better when he is talking about stuff he remembers from his childhood as opposed to stuff people request or something he has never played before. On another note, I got an unopened box of Ninja Turtle cereal and got in touch with the AVGN about it, and we had some very loose plans on eating it on film at the Screw attack con when , but it never panned out.
If you don't have any soundtracks on vinyl you are doing yourself a disservice
