i tried sleeping pills before and i felt really crappy waking up
sometimes taking pills becomes just a bandaid

yea, go for a run, or work out at the gym everyday. More energy during the day and better sleep.

Oh god don't take ambien. It's the posterchild for everything that's wrong with this country's drug laws:

Ambien - legal
Marijuana - illegal

Thats the third time I have been told melatonin. I might pick up a bottle tommorow just to give it a shot. Is it sold with the other herbal medicines and "natural cures" and whatnot?

And on the exercise thing I work damn hard in my morning job. Usually 3-4 hours of manual labor, most of which is outside in the Texas heat. Is it just too early in the morning to affect me at night? Maybe I should work out a little at night.

Yeah I totally stopped taking the Ambien after a week. I would just randomly walk around the house according to my wife and I don't remember it at all. She also said I would walk right past her like she wasn't ever there. I got nervous that I might go for a sleepwalking drive or something, so I threw them in the trash.

Melatonin is good try to get the extra strength (5mg per pill) stuff. It only takes about an hour to knock you out. Its kind of like a slow acting venom that slowly puts you to sleep.

I have awful insomnia. Sometimes I can go to bed at 11 and fall asleep at 4. I've gone weeks in school on four hours a sleep a night. Melatonin is a completely useless substance. You might as well have swallowed an asprin.

Works for me you gotta take enough of it.

I get enough sleep. I just felt exhausted almost every day for the last 14 years. No drugs, booze. I've tried eating well, exercising, etc. It's just who I am. I will always be tired.

I doubt that. I've been called a vampire by my friends before over my constant state of poor health, pale skin, and bloodshot eyes during the school year. (This was before Twilight came out, so I didn't consider it an insult.) My advice to the insomniacs out there- eat a big dinner and shower right before bed. That's the only thing that helps me.
