Cheating means doing something outside of the rules in order to win. Waiting for the last second to place a bid is perfectly OK according to Ebay rules, therefore it's not cheating.
I guess it would be like a race in Mario Kart, where someone uses a mushroom boost to rocket into 1st place just before passing the finish line.
I have to speak my mind about Ebay....

How does it even FEEL like cheating? Somebody paid more than you were willing to!

Maybe so, but in the eBay case, I don't get the satisfaction of reaching over and decking the other guy.Inazuma wrote:Cheating means doing something outside of the rules in order to win. Waiting for the last second to place a bid is perfectly OK according to Ebay rules, therefore it's not cheating.

I sell on ebay but rarely buy.
I've been trying to get Pokemon red, blue or yellow complete and people are just willing to spend a little bit more.

I don't use Ebay much because I get sniped all the time and I seem to find better deals elsewhere. Also, I always wonder if the sellers are bidding on their own items to raise the price closer to what they actually want to sell it for. Do they have anything to prevent people from doing that?

dont know what their rules are but it is probably against them. The problem is if they bid up their own items and no one out bids them at the end they get stuck paying all of the ebay feesJ T wrote:I don't use Ebay much because I get sniped all the time and I seem to find better deals elsewhere. I believe sniping is a fair tactic...
I mean if you bidding on something really put your maximum bid. And they beat it so what. It would have been more than what you were willing to.
On another note I had bid on a snes copy of umk3 for .99 cents for about a day. Then in the last minutes someone literally bid in the final second. Fortunately my maximum bid was $5. I still beat the bastard. Got it for $3.38 HA!

There was a time when you would find incredible deals on eBay but that ended years ago, imo. Everyone and their great grandmother has internet access these days. You aren't going to "ninja" anything anymore. Most of my collection was purchased locally and for eBay + shipping prices or lower. Now I understand some people don't live in a city where rare and unusual games would be sold but eBay is definitely no longer the place to go... imo.
