Yakuza 3 confirmed NOT to be coming stateside
Re: Yakuza 3 confirmed NOT to be coming stateside
It's kind of hard to compare a Playstation 2 game released when the system is knocking at death's door and has to compete with the PS3, XBox360, & Wii. Yakuza 2 did great in reviews, but gamers aren't hussling to buy PS2 games as soon as they hit the shelves anymore.

ha. I wonder if there was any outcry after it was stated that it wasn't coming stateside. And if there was an outcry, i wonder if it solidifies it actually coming stateside.
I hope it does. I haven't picked up 2 yet, but not because i don't want to... i just haven't played 1 yet. This is a series that I really want to play, bought the first one on faith, heard good things. Just haven't had the time yet.
I wonder how many games get poor sales because of the glut of games coming out. The only reason i haven't played yakuza yet is because i am drowning in other games. ugh!

I always knew they wouldn't make an English version. There are too many Japanese cultural nuances and quirks (even little, trivial things)for the average western gamer to understand. I beat Ryu ga Gotoku 3 a couple months ago. If I never lived in Japan, I wouldn't understand half the crap in the game, even if it was in English.

After all of this commosion about Yakuza 3 not coming stateside, I decided to purchase a copy of Yakuza 2 today that I found for $13. I figure if the internets are jabbering about it, and it's semi-rare, then I probably won't see it at that good of a price for too long. I bought the first one for $5 a few weeks ago. These are good faith buys for me too. I hope all the hype is right. I played a few minutes of the first one though, and it seems like it will get good once I put some time into it.

I want both the new Yakuza games.
Even if I have to watch with subtitles. I prefer it that way, strangely. I never like subtitles, but I feel it loses something in the first game.
It's river fucking city ransom in 3D. Whoever doesn't like this game must hate beat em ups or violence. I've never played a game that instantly had me into its storyline, and my god does Yakuza 2 have some storyline, so much. Its as if it dares itself to become more complicated at each turn. And it's awesome.
If for some reason you don't own Yakuza 2 and you like beat em ups, please go buy it. You've a context sensative special move. Usually it rams someones face into a wall or something like that. I pulled a guy to a bench. Just a regular park bench. I press the button. I expect a simple "kiss the curb" style execution or maybe just ram him into it. My character suplexes the asshole on his back across the bench. In my wildest imagination, I never thought of that. I paid twenty dollars for this game. It is amazing.
One of the un-released PS3 ones takes place in ancient japan. It's like this sort of exploratrion with mini games, but with swords. I want a PS3 almost solely for Yakuza.

The best part about the specials is how solid and satisfying they are. You sit there in horror and cringe every time you smash people's faces into walls, floors, or poles but it just looks so well done.
