All you have to do is snip one pin on the Hu6280 and it kills the region lockout. US system w/ convertor = everything, Hu's and CDs
JP system = no US HuCards (but really, who cares? You can get the imports on the cheap)

it is possible to play US in a Jap system. I remember physically chopping the plastic ends off an adapter to make it work on my PCE GT.
