I liked Vamp but I think Raiden is one of the coolest mofo'ing characters of all time. Yea I said it.
8 years ago you would been crucified for saying that. What a difference a few years make because I agree with you Raiden is cool.

Perhaps Kojima wanted to make Raiden cooler to make up for how annoying he was during Sons of liberty. I still kinda liked him even then, I just like him a whole lot more now.

Weird thing Droid Party is Kojima said he was very popular in Japan. Well....I guess I shouldn't be too surprised just look at Final Fantasy these days, the old Raiden would fit right in.

I played all MGS (excluding the PSP ones) and I must say that MGS4 was great, but I would have definitely went with some different story decisions. I didn't like how the entire game Snake was getting to his end and being finished, ya I know this is the last game in the series and that Snake is supposed to find this eternal resting place in a way but I would have went about it differently. For example why is Snake the only that supposedly aged due to Foxdie? And the last boss fight I must say was good gameplay-vise, but story-vise eh not IMO. It's cool and original how Ocelots lost hand/forearm is replaced with Liquid's, but c'mon does he really have to be called Liquid? It's still Ocelot, just because every now and then Liquid, with his Houdini magic, comes through doesn't make him more Liquid than Ocelot. And after all that struggle Ocelot went through in MGS4 he is really going to risk everything fighting Snake - fairly. Please... . Naomi betraying you also was Sooo obvious. I don't wanna bitch and moan, but I certainly wish MGS4 would have made some different turns in the story. The gameplay, sound, graphics, value, lasting appeal and all that is top-notch but the story definitely let me wishing for more. However, I must agree that Raiden was probably the best developed character in the game.

It's been a little while since I played mgs4, but if memory serves the reason that Snake is the only one that ages is because he was designed to age quickly, I mean when they cloned him, as a kind of fail safe or something.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure foxdie had nothing to do with him aging. They just assumed that's what it was in the beginning.

gripes
Vamp boss battle sucked. It was just a real pain in the ass, and it was something that was left way to vague. I mean, come on, even if you guessed how to get the killshot, it's the only time you use that function the entire game, how would you even know it could do that?

Crawling and octocamo - splinter cell was always the slow, prodding stealth game to contrast the fast paced tactical espionage or whatever mgs has touted, and up until 4 this has been mostly true. But the radar, which i don't understand how technology somehow has taken a step backwards and snake gets a crappier one, doesn't encourage the fast paced type of evasion i loved from mgs, and the lack of top down perspective really punctuates that, and i feel like the game really suffers from that. The detective level really showed a contrast for me, like that was the pace I wanted to play the game at, why won't it let me?

Story - now by no means do i think the story is bad, i think it's just intrusive. When literally half of my playtime is taken up by cutscenes, I do get quite frustrated. I found myself saying, wow I love this game, now if only I could play it.

The game is fantastic for the end alone, I think it easily one of the better games I played this generation, I just don't find it up to par to previous installments. I'm sorry if I sound like a troll, but really, if were going to discuss a game I feel like it's good to talk about it's negative qualities as well.

Also the line "I am an ANIME OTAKU."
hilarious.
Don't that just look oh so tasty?

Fair comment, in no way troll like. Good with the bad and all that.

I actually purchased this not too long ago with the strategy guide for cheap. like 17 dollars shipped to my door cheap. I have never been a huge fan of this series, and only completed the first on on PSX, should I go through and play the other ones before I get involved with this one?
