What games have you beaten this year?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Short but sweet. I beat both games within 3 hours of owning them.
How many continues did you use though?
Octopod wrote:That brings up a question. If you use continues do you consider a game beat? I certainly dont but I guess that is for each person to decide for themselves. I guess it comes from playing shmups. In my mind only a 1cc counts as a completion and this is how I look at all arcade style games.
I agree with you. Once I get a game over, I start my game over.
If you credit feed through a game, I say, the game is beating you. You've seen the ending, but definitely didn't complete it.
The "magic" in a game really jumps out and shines, once you adopt the 1CC mentality.

Exactly. Anyone can credit feed through a game. And by not using continues you become better at games in general not just the game you are playing at the time. Its like those laughable shmup reviews that talk about how short the game is and how it can be beaten in under an hour.

Edit: Really though I do think it is up to someone to decide for themselves. I cant tell people how to play their game in their house.

I finally beat Super Mario Bros and i even got it twice in a row most here wont think thats a great feat but level 8-2 has been a thorn in my side for a long time.

Got in the mood to beat some dreamcast games and finished Grandia 2 two years after i started it but thankfully the story and gameplay isnt that complex so i got into that easily.

And i got back to Evolution The World of Sacred device a game i hadn played since the dreamcast was relatively new and im glad i finally leveled enough to beat the final boss.

Finished Shining Force 3 which is kinda funny considering i modded my saturn a long time ago for the sole purpose of finally being able to play that one. Only to ignore it for years.

I also beat Fallout : Brotherhood of steel but that really isnt something to brag about. In fact i regret mentioning it already :D

The secret to BattleToads is in the second level, when you're descending down the pit by rope, you need to grab blade and keep slashing the dead crows against the wall. Smack them repeatedly as they rebound off the wall and you will eventually start getting 1ups for every hit. These few extra lives will help you later on, but the later levels are so difficult it still takes a lot of skill and memorization. Passing Battletoads was one of my greatest accomplishments in my NES glory days.

Furthest I've ever gotten in Battletoads is the ice level. I don't know what stage that is, but I was damn proud of myself. I kept dying at the same place however, this spot with a pit you have to leap over, and this massive icicle hanging over it that falls if you get under it. I just can't figure out how I'm supposed to get past it.

Yeah, you've got it. If you're playing with another person you can play badminton...

Well, I didn't claim to have mastered the game. It was just my first run through. The final continue count was approaching 30.

Try taking the 1CC approach, then come back and let me know how short and sweet it is.

Neither could I.

Closest I've ever come to 1cc a Metal Slug was in Metal Slug 2. 7 continues. That last boss battle is a bitch.
