Also there's a problem with the poll it seems. Unless for some reason I'm the only one that will have to choose one of the Sonic games as my choice for PC...racketboy wrote:How did I forget that post?

I'd guess the main page has a single "Poll" object that you can add to any article, and the object gets modified when Racket runs a new poll.

Re: Old School PC games still worth playing?
As english is my second language had to look up ropey in the dictionary. Its difficult for me to see your point of were the gameplay has aged badly in Doom and Monkey Island. I can definitely agree on the graphics aging very badly, 15 years is a lot, but have to disagree on someone writing bad gameply in the same sentence as Monkey Island. Just give the remake a few plays you will see its just the same gameplay with better graphics and voice overs. The game as a whole aged badly? Yes, probably. The gameplay? Don't think so, its the same point and click style adventures game use that is still today very valid and entertaining for many gamers. I think you're gameplay experience could be a little influenced by more modern games with nicer graphics and non midi music but I respect your opinion very much, just wanted to point out mine.4ppleseed wrote:Old School PC games still worth playing?
I'm really in the mood to play some old PC games. I think things like Wolfenstein and Doom or Monkey Island have really dated badly in terms of gameplay. Any recommendations for things that are still great to play now?

Except that you have no taste.4ppleseed wrote:Of course I think they are great, just that the actual game engines are pretty ropey. I'm looking for something that graphics aside, its still totally a blast to play

I just played through Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. It had most of what I wanted, though truthfully I prefer Call of Duty much, much more, if only because CoD let me go prone. I realize they're not that old as far as PC games are concerned, but they're coming up on a decade in terms of age, so I figured why not play something from that period where we had an absolute glut of WWII games(as opposed to now, where we just don't seem to have any games at all, or at least none that really feel worth checking out).

Medal of honor feels lacking in some aspects especially if you played it after you have experienced CoD. I did play MoH allied assault and its expansion first but played pacific assault after CoD and felt it needed more but the jungle aspect of the games were very good although felt really limited because of a lot of the time I was restricted to narrow jungle passes.Ack wrote:I just played through Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. Earlier this year I played through CoD 2 and highly enjoyed it, too bad 3 wasn't on PC because I have no 360 or PS3 and probably the xbox or ps2 versions are subpar. In fact I should give Big Red One or Finest Hour a try, have you played them?
