If you could have any band do a video game soundtrack...

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I mean, personally if I made my own video game, it would NOT be composed of licensed tracks or be composed by a regular band at all, it would in fact sound like a Sega Genesis game, thank you very much. It's just one of those if you had to. Sort of questions. Like "Would you rather sleep with Barbara Bush or be eaten alive by a Polar Bear?", not many people would particularly like to do either of those things, but the point of the matter is to choose anyway. Keep in mind, however, that just as some people here have that band they would love to compose a video game score, some people have been waiting for just that moment to make sweet love to Barbara Bush.

Hey now, Barbara Bush is a classy lady. And pretty freaky in the sack.

I've always wanted to play the PS1 GITS game, how is it?

It's great. A 3rd person shooter in the Fuchikoma tank. The tank sticks to nearly any surface leading to some interesting action sequences. The game allows a lot of freedom to roam in most levels, a rarity for games of that age.

And it has one of the best techno/big beat soundtracks in existence. Everything clicks. Every song matches the level it accompanies. I loved it so much I bought the soundtrack. Many years later, when the disc wouldn't play anymore, I started looking for it again on eBay. To my surprise there are two versions of the sound track. There is a single disc version that only contains about 12 tracks from the game (the version I, and most people had). The other is a special edition 2 disc set with all of the music tracks from the game. It is epic in every way. I can listen to it exclusively for days.

I say pick up the game if you find it. It's one of those inexpensive gems that sold horribly and even though there aren't many copies in circulation, it hasn't ever reached over-priced collector/cult status.

Cool, I'm a huge GITS fan so I'll defintely be picking it up now.

Also I've heard that it's one of the few PS1 games that supports a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio.

As a matter of fact it does. And it looks great. I ripped my PS1 disc once and converted the iso into an eBoot for play on the PSP. It looked fantastic on the little 16:9 display.

Don't expect progressive output, though. :D You are still going to hit the lag bitch that is upscale conversion when playing it on a modern LCD/Plasma TV.

Oh I know that, but played through either my 60 gig PS3 on the HD set or windowboxed on the old standard def TV it should still look great.

Okay, so no Polar Bears for Ack! Alright, well in Mozgus's case we'll make it Polar Bear Homicide vs. a steamy night with Megan Fox.

Wait a minute. I thought it was suppose to be two bad choices.

Yeah, because who could turn down something as awesomely named as a polar bear homicide?
