I'm sorta new here so I know my 2 cents means nothing but I do agree. I won't lie my first post without even introducing myself was to sell, but it wasn't a ebay link or anything. If I sell anything it's for Racketeers only. :D

After all us Racketeers should get a chance to vie for the current object of our affections before it goes to the eBay hounds shouldn't we?
Very true, which is why I offer you guys great prices before ebay. Thats why I think some people are more or less just scamming this forum as a place for people to see stuff.

Think about it, you post a copy of....I dont know...popful mail for the sega cd sealed on the this, a retro forum. So many people see it so many people want it...but the seller, only posts an ebay link. That more or less puts him right in the spot for ALOT of bids to tempt members, rather than just trying to offer them a price to buy at.

I was really just angry when I posted this topic, though I do stand behind it...we do need rules. But at the same time I know I could have came across a bit nicer about it :P

Maybe having a sticky thread within the BST would work, "eBay Links" then the person that is ebaying the items could post their links and maybe link back to their original forsale thread for more information.
Yep, I know im the one ya love to hate.

I dont mind the ebay links...AFTER!....someone trys to sell something. Its the "Hey I only post here to show you my ebay links" that is really getting to me.

Here's my two cents and those of several others from a few months ago:

http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... 22&t=10495

Basically my suggestions were:

1) One buy/sell/trade list per member. If you want to create a new list, you must delete your old one.
2) No more than three bumps per day (CAG is very busy - I think a "one bump per day" rule would work here).
3) You must be a registered member for 30 days before posting a new thread to this forum.

There's lots of other good food for thought in that thread as well...

I do remember that post, and reading it...the thing is...from that point to today...its gotten even worse. Before I let it roll down my back thinking it was no big deal, but now EVERY time there is a new member selling....its an ebay link.

Not that my opinion should have much weight here, since I never bought anything in the forums (mainly because I live in a shitty country far, far away from places that matter), but just skimming over the BST board sometimes, it seems that the same people open far too many topics for their items. Others use just one topic for all their sales, I think that should be the standard. It seems to me that at least most threads could be merged with others from the same person.

But again, I've never bought anything here, unfortunately.

This is one thing I am guilty off...in a way, normally, I open a thread where I am selling...once those items go on ebay, I will leave them alone, try to bump on the last day if I am lucky, and then let them go away. Once they are a page back or more I will open a new one. The main reason being...if someone reads all the posts they see things where at one time I was taking trades....well then they ask me if I will trade when I am THEN at the point of cash only. Once you have 6-10 pages of posts...it gets confusing.

The daily bump seems excessive to me. Personally I think it should be limited to once per week. We all know how to use the search function and it's no big deal to click on a link to see the previous X number of older posts.

It annoys me to see someone bump their thread but they haven't reduced their prices. If there is no interest, then the price must be too high for the member of this forum. Lower it or sell it on ebay.

Once a day is fair, with this forum normally once something gets to page 2...its no longer forsale. The community here isnt that huge in the BST, AND 90% of people here bump when they add items or change prices.
