Ok, thanks for that. Yeah you do find a lot of shady folk in Shanghai, I love the street sellers who try to spruik pornography to passers-by, they're always amusing. Beggers aren't so cool though, it's rather disgusting the lengths they go to gain a few dollars. It's the system though, they can't really help it, the poverty gap in China is massive and has ripples of implications for society. At least everything is very cheap, it's lovely going to nice looking restaurants and paying only a fraction of the Australian price.

One of my coworkers spent several months in China with his family, and they were doing things like massive spreads for 10 people totalling $40. And this was in the four star hotel restaurants.
