To me, the idea of a fun FPS starts with basic Wolfenstein and ends with Quake 3 and the Unreal Tournament series. Theres something about Doom, Powerslave, Quake, Duke, Unreal Tournament, Blood, Decent, and several others that just get me hooked into it.
Is it because new games are easier? I have built myself to the point where I just slaughter through Nightmare difficulty on Doom like its a lazy sunday drive (and more recently Doom 2, just now getting started on master levels. BRING IT ON BITCHES
edit: The music on the old games is 1000x better too
I just can't stand new FPS's all that much. Maybe because its a much more simple, practice and win style of game.I have no clue, I'm just rambling here thinking about why I can't seem to enjoy new games and the big genre that pops up is action games, perticularily FPS's. Maybe its the fact that its no questions asked blow shit up and watch the gore fly down. Even Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament wear me down a bit, sure they are good, but Doom deathmatch is the best multiplayer I have found (at least before I could slaughter everybody).
So after all that useless rambling I'd like to hear your answer. Are you a fan of new FPS's? Or do you like to kick it old school with some Duke and the like?
