Can I put my local KFC in check?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

You batter it while it's still solid. Usually the ice cream is kept at extremely low temperatures so that it doesn't melt when frying. It's only briefly fried anyway, so the ice cream doesn't get chance to melt.

It's not supposed to be battered the way they do it in Scotland, it should be battered with a raw egg and then fried. It's quite nice like that as a dessert treat. Only ever had it once, and I only had it because of the novelty value.

The trick to frying candy is that you freeze it for awhile before you batter it. So take your Snickers, Mars, Milkyway, Three Musketeers, Charleston Chew, Kinder Surprise Egg, Watchamacallit, 100 Grand, or whatever else you so choose, throw it in the freezer for atleast 24 hours. Prep your fryer. Unwrap and bread your candy (you can just use pancake batter if you a strapped), and fry it quickly.

By it being frozen and only having a quick bath, it should be much more solid until you get it to the plate. Itll be hot all the way through, don’t you worry about that.

There are three ways to fry icecream:
1. Do it like candy bars, but a shorter bath
2. Use “space” icecream (dehydrated)
3. Freeze your icecream with liquid nitrogen.
They all have their own merits, but they each have problems. The first is an art, the second has a funny after taste, the third is damn expensive and probably poisoned.

Now if you really want to do it right, don’t be a wuss and use corn, vegetable, or canola oil, use lard. Get a crockpot, smoke the lard down, and go nuts. If you are in the states, I guarantee it will be the best tasting fried food you will have – atleast since the late 80s when McDonalds stopped using lard for their fries…

Another thing to try is frying cookies - Oreo's/White Fudge Oreo's in particular.

I know why Mozgus, you fear people will bite into that toy in the Kinder Egg after they have deep fried it...

I honestly have no idea if the toy would make it through the bath but I am going to guess no.

I just don't like all this talk of fried shit. I barely even like fried chicken. Grilled is the only way to go.

To each their own. Personally grilled chicken does not have enough taste for me. Which makes sense since taste is mostly carried in fat. Conversely that is why people claim that everything taste like chicken. All things considered, pulled chicken BBQ is my preferred.

All this, and we haven't yet begun debating the awesomeness that is grits, collard greens, and tomato gravy. And you haven't had fried chicken until you've had it made by a Southern woman using a family recipe older than she is. My mother makes some amazing fried chicken, and her mother used to make it too.

Then again, most of you have probably never realized that fried chicken is an amazing breakfast food.

You can keep your collard greens.

Shoot, I can't even remember the last grilled chicken that tasted good to me. It's not like I have anything against the stuff, but the people doing the grilling usually have no cooking talent in the first place... The stuff is always dry and stale tasting. I like various forms of baked chicked though.

Another thing: Some things really don't need to be fried. Like, who the hell fries an Oreo? It's a cookie, it's already delicious, and then sombody goes and dips it in molten lard. Bananas too- why fry it? They're already delicious, and frying it just makes it more difficult to eat.
