Is there anyone here who can honestly say that they completed LTTP without consulting a guide/walkthrough?

I don't recall consulting any guides. This was back in 91 or 92 whenever it came out. I was in middle school. We didn't have the Internet. I never called any of those hint hotlines (for any game, for that matter). I might have seen some hints in Nintendo Power or something but I think for the most part a friend and I just had plenty of time on our hands and were obsessive kids at the time. We didn't 100 percent the game, but we beat it.

I can't compare this to any other Zeldas because this is the first one I ever played. So which Zelda is your favorite?
my favorites are:
1.a link to the past
2.ocarina of time
3.wind waker
4.twilight princess.
but a link to the past never get boring. 8)

I definitely think that the Fairies are the way to go. I mean, then you just fight till you can't fight no more... and TA-DA they bring you back, right where you left off, to fuck shit up!

The disadvantage of the fairies is that they do not restore you to full strength. But you don't have to worry about keeping an eye on the heart level during the heat of battle.

ALTTP was a major evolution in the Zelda series. Its the best in the series hands down as far as freshness at time of release. The parallel world thing was really new and exciting in its time and the art direction was amazing. The gameplay was also a major upgrade as well and the game was HUGE. I still find it as the best Zelda game hands down in terms of innovation in gameplay and graphics. It hit players like a ton of bricks when it was released. I was really surprised how well done the game was. I know I spent my summer that year trying to find everything. Its just a masterpiece of awesomeness.

I know I didn't, since my grandmother bought me the guide when she got me the game. It was my first game guide, and I always thought it was really well put together.

Fairies in a bottle are meh, since they don't restore you to full health later in the game. I useually keep one just in case I really mess up. I would rather have a health potion. Gotta have full life for your sword power.
Plus I never have an issue forgetting about my life since that annoying beeping when you get to low.

I know I finished it, and I don't remember consulting guides. It's been a while. The game wouldn't be as great as it is if it "required" that.

Hmm, that might be my problem. I have the volume turned off in order to extend battery life.
