A Link To The Past
playing through it for the first time in over 10 yrs. It's definitely still one of the best games I've ever played. And it's weird, because a lot of it I still remember. Maybe because I used to play it so much back then. Or maybe because it's so well done, and has such a great story that it has remained memorable for all these years.

Every now and then I'll play through it. I must have completed it about 6 times now. It never gets old.
It still looks great too, which helps. Ocarina of Time seems to get worse looking the more it ages, it's such a shame.

I'd say that A Link to the Past is still my favorite Zelda game of all time, and likely always will be. The images just looked so crisp. But most importantly, the gameplay has always held up, and I always felt a real sense of adventure while playing it. I felt like I was accomplishing something every time I acquired a new item or unlocked a new door or beat a boss. Few games have thrilled me as much as this one has.
How far are you currently in it?

Re: A Link To The Past
I'm currently playing it on my GameBoy Micro and I agree that it's a great game. This is the first Zelda game I ever played. I'm currently in dungeon #5, the Ice Palace. My only regret is using the actual cartridge instead of my M3 Perfect to play this game. The lack of real-time-save is painful because I don't have the infinite free time like I had when I was a kid 25+ years ago.
I find the graphics to be gorgeous for a handheld. The other day I popped in Link's Awakening (GBC) and the graphics were a bit hard on the eye.
I found LTTP to be hard. I probably had to consult a walkthrough about 7-8 times. Some of it could have been avoided if I had access to the manual or been exposed to other Zelda games.
I was trying to get my daughters (ages 6 & 9) to try the game. They don't want to because the main character is a boy, not a girl. They do enjoy watching me play.
In the game, you have 4 bottles. What do you fill them up with? I usually have two fairies, 1 life medicine, and 1 magic medicine.
After I finish this game, I plan to try the original Legend of Zelda and do the rest in release order if possible.

Beat it on SNES and then on GBA. Never much cared for it. Found it to be one of the weaker Zeldas.

I can't compare this to any other Zeldas because this is the first one I ever played. So which Zelda is your favorite?Mozgus wrote:Beat it on SNES and then on GBA. Never much cared for it. Found it to be one of the weaker Zeldas.

Played it for an emulator(before I knew better) YEARS ago and never got passed the 1st dark world dungeon but they got it for GBA and played it through. Still one of the best Zelda's(IMO Wind Waker is the best Zelda ever). Liked it so much, when I started collecting, first game I copped for my SNES.

It's definitely always remained my favorite. Right now I'm in the 2nd Palace in the Dark World.
Re: A Link To The Past
I've sunk countless hours into LttP over the years. It's always been my favorite Zelda, as it took the original Zelda's formula and made it epic. The main problem I've had with the 3D Zeldas is that there are large portions of the overworld that you'll just never visit, since it's out of the way between the points of interest. With the 2D Zeldas, though, you have to get familiar with each and every screen.
