Games Acquired 2025
Re: Games Acquired 2025
Every time I post it's a case of saying "long time no post" but i bought Mario Picross on the original gameboy. I guess it was a big flop in the west but a huge game in Japan so you can get cheap Japanese copies but expensive English-language ones. I had a feeeeeling that it probably was a little inflated in price and nobody was trying to buy them so I sent in a 50% of the asking price offer and he accepted !

I was on the fence too for similar reasons. I liked what I played of the demo (I didn't finish it), but I immediately thought it didn't play much like Shinobi. These modern retro revivals, I don't know what it is about them, but they always seem to have something very samey about them and the way they play and they never really seem to feel like the originals we know and love. Only really Sonic Mania managed to actually nail it whilst still making it feel modern.pierrot wrote: ↑Sun Aug 31, 2025 5:46 pm
I've been kind of on the fence about grabbing this. I played the demo a while ago, and while it seems kind of fun, it's a far cry from what I think of as the definitive Shinobi (Shinobi III). I can kind of look past the metroidvania aspects, but with Lizardcube handling it, the general vibe kind of feels more like Ninja Turtles to me than an authentic Shinobi. Kind of a Blue Eye Samurai situation. I know Ryo makes a cameo as a background npc, though; Don't know if that's really a great reason to get it if that's the main reason I might play it--.
I was exhausted last night and ended up half falling asleep on the sofa trying to play it, so I haven't managed to give it a fair chance yet.

I fucking LOVE Picross, especially the Picross S series on the Switch. I just wish alot of the improvements made to the later games were retroactively added to the earlier games. And that they'd made a full game FULL of the Color Picross puzzles introduced in S3.
Crazy just how many of Jupiter's games are Picross games, including Pokemon Picross (both the 3DS one AND the unreleased GBC one).

Ordered the latest Story of Seasons game, Grand Bazaar, for Switch 2 this morning and it's already looking like it'll get here tomorrow.
Also, not a game key card.

Re: Games Acquired 2025
Have you tried it yet? I am interested to hear how it plays on Switch 2. I have a copy on the way and have heard there are performance issues. Hopefully it's still playable though. I did contemplate cancelling and switching to the PS5 version when I saw the reviews coming in, but I so rarely get time to sit down and play games on the TV, I would rather have Switch and Switch 2 versions of games that give me the flexibility to do that when it is an option, but also allows me to play portably or move to a different TV in the house.ElkinFencer10 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 05, 2025 5:17 pm New for September 5
