Any underappreciated series or titles you folks like? I have a few I like to point out.
2D: Cyberbots. I pilot a mech, fighting other mechs, in a ridiculous Capcom game that plays as smoothly as it is fun. If you're a fan of the various 2D fighters based on Gundam, Cyberbots is likely up your alley, and if you enjoy Cyberbots already, look into Gundam Wing: Endless Duel and the Gundam: Battle Assault titles.
3D: Last Bronx, for all you fans of Soul Calibur and weapons combat that need your fix, it's a fun one. I also enjoyed the Bloody Roar series, because I can play a dude that's pretty much a werewolf and transform in a fight. Because that's awesome. Not deep, but awesome.

Cyberbots is friggin' awesome!
I spent a lot of time with that game going through the story mode to unlock everything on the Saturn. It's a wild time to play, but all the characters and story interactions are put together in a way that it feels really obvious the developers had a ton of fun with making it. I have the limited edition package with a nice development works artbook and a popup cutout of the Gouki machine. It's a great package all the way around.
A few of the lesser known games I really like include:
- Fighting Vipers 2 (3D - Sega)
- Gundam: Federation vs Zeon (3D arena - Capcom)
- Virtual-On: Oratorio Tangram (3D arena - Sega)
- The Last Blade 2 (2D - SNK)
- Gouketsuji Ichizoku 3: Groove on Fight (2D tag - Atlus)
- Real Bout Garou Densetsu Special (2D - SNK) - I actually like this one more than Mark of the Wolves
- Tatsunoko vs Capcom (2D tag - Capcom)
That last one is more just about reminding people that it's there in the vs series, but I also like it way more than MvC3, which is not terribly appealing to me.
Groove on Fight has more than one or two issues, but I find it to be very fun regardless. Which reminds me that at some point I really need to check out one of the (likely) much better games in the series: Bonnou Kaihou, Matrimelee.
