I will have you know that after 26 years , $112 paid in 1997 money, over the course of couple of years, using clunky and unstable retroArch, an aging ps3 controller connected to Mac laptop wired paired via 8bit-do usb dongle I have finally completed Casper : A Haunting 3D challenge for the Playstation 1 and I am having a little celebration in my heart. I used every cheat and every guide in image, text or video form going all the way to resorting to VGmaps.com to find a map of the obviously painstakingly done by someone online for this more obscure game. Maybe I need to find him online and tip him.
I am convinced this must be one of the most evil games written or some sick joke by the developers. It starts cute, childish vibes, true to the franchise, and easy controls. One would think this is something his child will enjoy. It ends up being one of the most confusing real mazes in videogames history. Not is only moving around the map is mind boggling confusing but the scattering of items makes you want to pull your hair out. Add in all the backtracking , slow movement, mini pauses to change forms, the glory of a load screen between every room you have to go back and forth and you have one of the most evil games every created. A "
Haunting 3D
Challenge" indeed. I finally understand the title.
My only wish that I could completed it using the actual physical disc I bought in 1997 but the slow loading times and inconvenience was too much to bear, but I did it, it was one of the challenges I aimed to achieve in my lifetime and I finally did it and got my money's worth!
