All the volunteering is appreciated (think of the guys behind Wikipedia!) even answering questions on forum posts can be used in research and finding answers! I do not mind non-intrusive privacy respecting ads. Nice middle ground of 3 way win.

will look more into amiga exclusives!

I will have you know that after 26 years , $112 paid in 1997 money, over the course of couple of years, using clunky and unstable retroArch, an aging ps3 controller connected to Mac laptop wired paired via 8bit-do usb dongle I have finally completed Casper : A Haunting 3D challenge for the Playstation 1 and I am having a little celebration in my heart. I used every cheat and every guide in image, text or video form going all the way to resorting to VGmaps.com to find a map of the obviously painstakingly done by someone online for this more obscure game. Maybe I need to find him online and tip him.

I am convinced this must be one of the most evil games written or some sick joke by the developers. It starts cute, childish vibes, true to the franchise, and easy controls. One would think this is something his child will enjoy. It ends up being one of the most confusing real mazes in videogames history. Not is only moving around the map is mind boggling confusing but the scattering of items makes you want to pull your hair out. Add in all the backtracking , slow movement, mini pauses to change forms, the glory of a load screen between every room you have to go back and forth and you have one of the most evil games every created. A "Haunting 3D Challenge" indeed. I finally understand the title.

My only wish that I could completed it using the actual physical disc I bought in 1997 but the slow loading times and inconvenience was too much to bear, but I did it, it was one of the challenges I aimed to achieve in my lifetime and I finally did it and got my money's worth!

I swear games that work based on hit detection and moving platforms study the expect behaviour of the player and programmed accordingly to move to or away from the player , whatever makes him lose the game.

Quite a large number have a specific timing and pace which, if you hit it just right, puts every platform and enemy in just the right spot for you to cruise through the level. Sonic is famous for this.

Many games have platforms on a global timer. Speedrunners take advantage of this to have the same route of jumping if they did everything right going up to it.

idk, through my game play as I move projectiles seems to move exactly towards where I am going. Similarly, a lot of platform games seem to move away just right before I make a jump either too close or too far. It could be on global timer but I think that timer was set based on how 90% of users would react if they were playing the game.

In past times, I would make platform jumps like my life depended on it with a little backing up as I land on each one. That is until I saw one guy play Zelda and move door to door without care for any objects or enemies like this  Who would have though, sprinting quickly through platforms actually works better than being careful

If 31 years isn't enough time to git gud I don't know what you're doing. You should probably go with something easier like Dark Souls.

8-Bit and 16-bit games are the most difficult games ever. Dark Souls is a joke compared to Battletoads and Ghouls n Ghosts. I still have nightmares losing a last life in final stages only to have to go through the whole game again.
