having issue with lag in SNES game??? (Secret of Mana)

Hi there,

Booted up SoM on my SNES and realized it had some lag, in bursts. I'll be playing and it'll skip a bunch of frames then go back to normal, but it seems to happen in the same points, almost like a CD game or PC game loading the next level when you step over a line.

Never had this problem before, anyone know what I should do to repair the game or what's causing this? I checked the traces and they seem fine, do chips go bad and cause this?

What kind of display are you using? For example, a CRT or an HDTV. Is the console hooked up directly to the TV or through a scaler, AVR, switch box or something else?

I would suspect a problem with your AV setup before the cart. Try switching your setup around. Plug directly into the TV, or a different TV. Try a different SNES if possible and see if you have the same problem.

Hate to be the one to ask it ... but sure legit OG cart? If purchased in past 5 or so years, open to ensure legit?

Hope an AV setup issue bud.
