In Europe the deal applies to a PS2 slim with 6 games. If you go to a flea market / garage sale you can get the PS2 slim machine for 50 euros and 6 games that no one wants to play for a few bucks. You do end up saving a bit but not much.

JDMThoughts wrote:Not really worth it.... as far as PS3 being overhyped.... I think that is pretty false. If I have to hear another person with an XBOX claim their system is god's chariot I am gonna lose it. PS3 is a far superior system. More and more games are coming and coming and this year poses to be a very good year as far as games go for the system. Gamestop most likely has some sort of inkling as to what is gonna happen with Sony and if they are going to do a price drop.... which is long overdue in my opinion.
I'm sure plenty of 360 fans are sick of Sony fanboys like you too. Far superior system? Each system has plenty of things going for it, and there isn't any far superior system.

Sony really needs to do something. They pretty much lost any chance of me buying the system any time soon when they decided to save some money and cut backwards compatibility. I've got a PS2 on the verge of death, and I was just going to upgrade to a PS3 and solve that issue. That isn't happening now, and I'd rather just get a new PS2 since I already have a library of around 100 games for it.

Killzone 2 provided a one week win in world wide sales for the PS3, and then the 360 went ahead of them again the next week. PS3 is absolutely getting killed by the 360 since the price drop last year, and their first party exclusives seemingly aren't the answer. Yeah, they do have more exclusives coming out. Too bad the majority of gamers will never see them because they own a Wii or 360 instead.

Not worth it because you could keep your PS2 and get a PS3 for $299 at Dell.

While superior software selection is subjective, superior hardware is less so. We've all heard about research teams that hook up multiple PS3 to simulate black holes and such; I haven't heard of such science experiments involving Xbox 360s. It seems that Microsoft attempts to cut every bit of cost they can on the 360, which can be detrimental to the consumer when this results in easily shredded discs and a 30% failure rate.

Of course, hardware rarely wins the space race - is all about software. In this regard, 360 does have the clear advantage with a nearing 100% backwards compatibilty. Aside from this, the 360 and PS3 are nearing having the same line-up of third party games, and it's all going to come down to first and second parties. It's in this regard that I believe PS3 will finally catch up to Xbox 360. I know plenty of Xbox 360 users who have - despite their incredible loyalty to Microsoft - claimed they will drop $460 as soon as God of War III hits. I personally couldn't give two dead flies about that Devil May Cry rip-off, but apparently a lot of people love it.

It would behoove Sony to include some form of Backwards Compatibilty, probably starting off with any games they made Greatest Hits, at least. It won't make a difference to me - I very rarely played any PSX games when I got a PS2 - but apparently a lot of people give a shit about that sort of thing. I kinda get the feeling that as soon as they put Backward Compatibility back in, they'll find something else to complain about - like the price. And I also get the feeling that, like the Dreamcast, they could lower the price to $99 and people will still find some reason to justify not getting a PS3.

Well we've also all heard the story how the the Cell was being worked on via Sony, Toshiba, and IBM, and then Microsoft came along and contracted IBM for a processor for the 360 which ended up being a modified version of the Cell's core. The heart of both of the systems have a lot more in common than probably any other two video game systems from different manufacturers. The architecture of the Cell makes it capable of being more powerful than the Xenon in the 360, but according most third-party developers, they seem to be on pretty equal footing when it comes to gaming power. Each system has things it does better than the others; this also includes the Wii, not just the 360 and PS3.

Also, the black hole experiment isn't really a fair way to compare the power of either system. PS3 is an open system, while the 360 is not. Such an experiment isn't possible on the 360, which explains why you haven't heard of any such science experiments.

Man, I coulda swore we were past the whole 'It has no games' deal. That shit made sense back during its first year; nowadays, the difference between the 360 and PS3 line-up lies in niche titles.

Its true.. I have more PS3 games than I have time to play. I wish there was less good games so I wouldnt feel pressured to buy so many games with no time to play them.

I agree, I have yet to decide between the 360 & PS3, I thought I settled on the 360, but despite having a handful of games I would love to play, I can say the same for the PS3, also if it comes to variety in exclusives, it appears to me that the PS3 has the edge there as well. That said the 360 is still a kick ass system, but so is the PS3 and Wii and PS2 and GC....get it....LOL

The black hole comment sounds like the argument of a 10 year old.
