I remember when I was in third grade the school's gifted teacher did an IQ test on me. 141 was my mark back then.

You're right, it is impractical for most real-world applications. There are some instances in signal processing where it happens, though.

But yes, if you are going to say that the population mean IQ is 100 "by definition," then, as silly as it it, that really is what you are implying. That was the source of my objection. Had you thrown the word "approximately" in there somewhere, I wouldn't have said anything.

But I think this little eddy of the thread is fairly on-topic. I mean, we're talking about IQ tests and measurement. We're just not discussing the more "journal-like" aspects of the thread.

Lol. Some of the "smartest" people I know are pretty stupid in "the real world" actually. To me, "school smart" just means you have a great memory. Real smart (again, to me) is logic and everything else that leads to wisdom. I'd rather be wise then smart.

Man, I remember I took one in elementary school, then one in HS. First, in elementary I had a pretty high score (between 150-160), which landed me in those TAG (Talented and Gifted) programs. In HS I was also given a score within the same range. Funny thing is, I was never in school (I was absent about 60% of every school year) and all I did was rush the exams. I'm telling ya, when sex is all you have on your mind, school isn't important.

Manic Depressive should be everyone's diagnosis. Getting depressed isn't something as bad as it used to be. Especially now, with little kids getting all depressed that their parents don't let them hang out or something. I don't know what worries young kids these days.
I'm back!
