Nice! Didn't know that existed. Love the "somewhat easy to install" line

I lean towards the modded Wii though with how expensive CGN component cables are. I have zero nostalgia for the GCN but if you're a purist, cool there's an option.

Will report back on PS1 mod chip. Will have to read up on burning PS1 games for chipped systems.

Just popping in to confirm that yes, I do have a USB for 3DO (for my Goldstar unit). I could (and want to) do a write up, but no promises before the Holidays...we'll see.

On the GDEMU subject. I have to discourage buying the clone. I do understand the dilemma though, and even considered getting one (to use as a gateway for the serial port SD adapter-- don't ask why). But I don't trust the clone and there's enough to troubleshoot even with a legit device.
I'm any case, I won't try to tell everyone what they shouldn't do, but it is a shame to see the market flooded with inferior and nigh indistinguishable from official Gdemus.

How often does he open up orders? I see GDEMU, Rhae, & Phoebe currently closed. I don't want to take any credit away from the original guy, just seems to be near impossible to get one. They're actually cheaper than I remember though at 130 euros shipped.

Any idea why this install guide has all the strikethroughs? Assuming after Rhae v3 no soldering was needed? IIRC correctly soldering is only needed for 50Hz/60Hz options?

Pretty cool... he has a FM Towns Marty ODE

I was talking about the Gamers Cart & AR Psuedo method. Never heard of this older, rare device until today.

I'm waiting for the Saturn Satiator, myself. I just hope the pricing isn't too bad; it sounds like it's going to come in higher than Prof. Abrasive expected.

Funny, I was just reading about that guy. Hadn't heard of it until this evening. Saw it mentioned on reddit. Does the dev have an update blog?

It doesn't look like Psuedo Saturn is moving forward to support cart saves/memory manager, so I'm tempted to be the RB gueanie pig on the Gamers Cart. I can only find a couple of obscure threads mentions on it, but no proper reviews. At $76 shipped, not terrible...

Maybe it'll hold me off until one of these cart or VCD slot solutions actually happen.

I'm not absolutely desperate for anything right now, considering I have my system modded (and had to do it again recently, as the modchip failed). I still would love to have something to just load ISOs straight off of a card, but the price is going to need to be right. I was tempted to roll with the Rhea/Phoebe, but it's hard to get in on it anyway, and a little too pricey considering I technically have a solution (and a backup Saturn if the laser craps out).

It is hard to get in on his orders, but it's usually every couple months I think (for a small window). You have to be fanatical, really patient, have a little luck, and make his blog your new home page. I had better luck with his Saturn devices, but I only really needed one GDEMU (got a USB GDrom for the other Dreamcast  ).
There's nothing for it though. It's a demand void that can't be easily filled. He got swamped with the last order and is still getting caught up after 2-3 months.

Yes, the strikethroughs are for his earlier devices. The newer models don't need to solder for power. Just there in case someone needs the info for an old unit.

The Marty ODE is pretty cool, but the cost of even a broken system is through the roof. Plus, I can think of no games worth tracking it down for. I'm kind of surprised and impressed there's some demand for it.

I just need that Super CD (PC-engine) ODE of his... I imagine a lot of competition for that, once released, as broken CD units are pretty common and that system rocks.

Got it. Thanks.

Okay, nice! So you have both the 3DO & DC USB devices from Nick/3DO Dreamcast Renovations.

For those interested, USB-GDROM and GDEMU comparation:
(caveat - via USB GDROM maker)

[Add: there is a guide now for GDEMU, think you have drop in a file or something but there is a GUI]

Agreed on Marty. Surprised he completed it with such low demand. Then again, he started with the 3DO so he's not chasing sales figures 8)

For PCE CD ODE, does the Super SD System meet all the needs of most? I like the idea of "saving" existing broken hardware though with a true device for CD add on.

The Marty is from the GDEMU guy, not the USB guy,
but it was never about chasing sales figures. This is a hobby for him. I'm really glad he persists anyways though. Until the other Saturn options pan out, he's the only option (and a good one at that).

The Super SD System 3 is all you'd ever need for CD (and card) games. Get a PC engine with a faulty card port for cheap and you're golden with the SD system (which is decidedly not cheap).
I just like the aesthetics of having that CD briefcase setup (and having a dedicated system; I find it gets more attention when I set them up that way). But the Super CD System is pretty awesome, while giving you potentially more video options...so that's what I have.
It's an instabuy for me if GDEMU finishes work on his option. I tend to have at least 2 options for everything I'm into  .

Oh, and I don't like the USB guy's comparison least, as I find it inaccurate (especially like that "Design: excellent / bad" line  ).
But GDEMU doesn't mind and even pointed/linked to it in hopes of getting people off his back about orders.

I'm waiting on the PCE side of things, don't really care for the SSS3 around all the drama, broken problems, and the price too, not to mention it's still crap SD. I like the Upergrafx2 but it's as expensive or a little more than their toy, but it is low to no real latency HD out of that rear port too, handles hucards +optical +saving as well. If you're not strung up on using weird conversion boxes or sticking to CRT it's the current way to go, though I know more options are on the horizon for next year (failing right now to remember names.)

Personally if i had the dough, I'd love a screen modernized recapped PCE GT.
