Any tips for Belger’s second form in Mighty Final Fight? I can beat his first without getting hit, but I just can’t seem to hit him after he starts shooting his robot hands at me... :? I am punching down his fists, and I know I should strike when he’s laughing. I just can’t seem to get to him fast enough. Should I play as a Guy instead of Cody?
He's tough to get to in time. The window is pretty tight, you want to bait him into laughing by maintaining the right distance, then go for him. It might be easier to hit him with a jumping attack. It might also be easier to catch him in transition with one if you get too close.

I kinda made a hash out of the fight at several spots, but here's roughly how my fight went:

You will note from my iffy tactics (which I'd forgotten to some degree) that you can't punch him as he gets up, or he'll pop you. You also can't throw him. I have a sneaking suspicion, however, that you might be able to hit him in the corner, and hit him with a jumping attack as he gets up. I'm going to try that now, actually. :)

(I wouldn't be surprised if he had i-frames on getting up, though.)

EDIT: I played through Gaiapolis, a top-down hack-and-slasher from Konami. It very nearly approximates an action-RPG, just simplified heavily for the arcade. You'll find scattered equipment at times, as well as level up your three characters (a knight, "fairy", and dragon). You'll also find a few screen-clearing special attacks. Unfortunately, the combat moveset only really contains your default attack, a dashing move, and a clear-out move from rotating the stick. Still, what's here differs enough from the usual arcade fare that it was worth the play. The spritework is nice, and the game has a sort of Nausicaa/Castle in the Sky thing going, not unlike Crystalis. I think the game might be a bit too simple for its own good, but I'll be generous and give it a 7/10.

Well...you got another like on that video! He looks impossible if you’re playing as Haggar. I’m think I’m going to give it a go as Guy for my next run.

It's definitely tough with Haggar since he's so slow. There's a sweet spot that I always kinda miss where you're close enough to pop him if he stops and laughs while on the same plane as you. There's a longplay video that shows the run with all three, and he absolutely decimates the final fight with Haggar.

Yes you did! And you beat a beat 'em up that's off the beaten path.

Current God Hand progress = 15 hours on the clock, just reached Stage 8. I think my time is inflated from screwing around in the casino so much. Damn that blackjack!

Dsh are you still playing this?

Heh, Gaiapolis was actually one of a small handful I was considering playing next.

I read that this game is unusually long for an arcade game, to the point of offering a password system. How long would you say an average playthrough would be?

yeah, but slowly - hoping to get to stage 3 or 4 today...I am basically pacing this one out as my last BUP to last the rest of the month.

I haven't played it myself, but GameFAQs says:

Cool. I'm looking forward to seeing what you think of this experience as you get deeper into it.

I finished up my first of 2 games for this month yesterday by beating Advance Guardian Heroes on GBA.

I wasn't into it at first, and I still think it's one of Treasure's weaker titles, but after a rocky start I thought the game became more fun once you power your character up a bit. I think that the game basically forces you to go for some fairly well rounded stats though, whereas the first game was quite flexible in that you could max out one stat a ton and do surprisingly well.

I had a decent enough time with the game, but it's not one of Treasure's greats. Their other beat 'em up on the system - Astro Boy: Omega Factor - is the better game.

This weekend I'm going to see if I can knock Alien Storm off the list to close out the month.

Nice. I liked Advance Guardian Heroes too. Not Treasure’s best - which may very well be the aforementioned Astro Boy Omega Factor - but still a pretty solid beat ‘em up.

I keep pushing through this month. I have (shockingly) been playing more than I have been writing, but I have finished up:

Ninja Gaiden (ARCADE/WII)
Advance Guardian Heroes (GBA)
Final Fight (ARCADE/PS3)
Double Dragon (1CC!) (ARCADE/IOS)
TMNT (GBA)
Double Dragon Advance (GBA)

Final Fight and Double Dragon are replays since (and this will date me) I beat both in actual arcades almost three decades ago...

I hope to finish both Double Dragon II (ARCADE/IOS) and Mighty Final Fight (NES/GBA) very soon, and I would like to beat Double Dragon III (ARCADE/IOS) and Gekido: Kintaro’s Revenge (GBA) before the end of the month.

God job my friend, happy to see Double Dragon played by many this month.
