Go go go Exhuminator, show us who's the Urban Ruler!

Edit:

I replayed Double Dragon IV with one of the unlockables characters and enjoyed a lot once again, sure it isn't a polished jewel but it's a pretty good game.
And the 1989's TMNT is done too, i quite liked the graphics and the voices sure surprised me, fun game but it's quite clear the rule of the game is to eat as much quarters as it can.

Whoa, is Golden Axe Revenge of Death Adder a complete arcade original? It seems amazing and way different. I've played the Genesis trilogy a bunch over the years but they admittedly all blend in a lot to me, this entry seems totally different and new though.

I think I'll work on some TMNT tonight though... don't think I've ever beaten the arcade versions of these two.

Yep, it's an original. No home ports to my knowledge. I played through it rather recently, and it was fun.

So, I'm not going to say anything about Urban Reign yet, but I did finish it. I want Ex to thoroughly vent his rage in a way that I don't believe I can. ;) I will absolutely say that it is brutal. Outside of credit-feeders in the arcade, I don't think I've ever played a brawler this difficult.

Congratulations man. I know what you've been through. Not many could do it.

There were times I raged, but all I've got now is love. Urban Reign was a good time. That's right, somehow the stars aligned (or was it fate?) and we both beat Urban Reign on the same day.

For some reason my cellphone makes my CRT TV look like crud. It looks much better IRL.

When you beat this game, Free Mode and Challenge Mode unlock! I think I'll leave those alone for now.

Folks if you want to play a beat 'em up that will beat you right back, check out Urban Reign.

My review.

And... I'm playing a Final Fight game next! It's...

Terrible Metacritic score. I'm not getting my hopes up. But I'll give it a fair try. :|

Ex is right, swords can burn in you know where. The real kicker is that, in most instances, trying to use them yourself will get you lit up. They're best in a scrum where your partner is distracting dudes. Your fists tend to come out faster, so in several instances, I just let 'em have the stupid sword, and dodged and countered.

Y'all, this might be the hardest PS2 game I've ever played. I'm not even kidding.

Ex, I blame you for dragging me into this! (No, not really. But what started out as a run to show some solidarity turned into a point of pride. I came really, really close to just quitting it for good last night. A good night's sleep helped, I guess.

Anyway, the game doesn't get Soul Calibur deep, but it's definitely deeper than most brawlers out there, with counters, various grapples, different types of strikes... it's like the Double Dragon of 3D brawlers. But that difficulty... oof. I'm going to give the game a 7/10. Combat is an easy 9/10, but the difficulty just felt so unfair at times that I just wanted it to be over with. I'm sure hindsight will do to me what Battletoads did, and I'll continually hold it in higher regard as I put some distance between the win. I mean, it's happening as I type this, for crying out loud!

EDIT: Also, I just picked up Final Fight: Streetwise the other day. I don't think I'll be playing that one this month, though. Looking forward to your review, though; either when you finish or when you decide it's trash.

All I can add to that is I busted a blood vessel in my arm beating this game on Normal. I bet there's somebody out there in the world, who can beat this whole thing on Very Hard, and never even get hit. I don't envy their life.

If God Hand is harder than Urban Reign I will be seriously surprised. For what's left of my brittle sanity I sure hope it's not. :|

Also, don't sleep on Super Double Dragon (or the more complete Japanese version Return of Double Dragon). Those might be a little slower than its contemporaries, but are still lots of fun.

Hell of a game indeed Sarge, i'm replaying if for sure later this year.
The slow pace and fewer enemies is right on my alley but i missed female foes and abobo
Oh, almost forgot, this game sounds A M A Z I N G !

I also beat 1990s The Combatribes by Technos out of curiosity on MAME.

Very good game indeed, the Double Dragon DNA is everywere here, cool game.

I have beaten 10 beat'em ups so far and it's been a blast!

I knocked out both TMNT arcade and Turtles in Time arcade last night. What is there to say? These are amazing time capsules to the late 80's and early 90's just chalk full of pure awesomeness, amazing graphics, music, controls, color, everything. Pure joy. Assuming you have $20-50 worth of coins to spend haha, the original TMNT is pretty ruthless. It was neat seeing the differences between the arcade and SNES versions of Turtles in Time, mostly boss placement changes. Great stuff, but I still think TMNT III is the coolest!

And I just beat Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder. Definitely a funky one with some weird camera angles and platforming in a few parts, it was awesome though and Death Adder himself looked freaking cool. I have to say though this had some of the worst BGM I've heard in a long time, it was downright hilariously bad. Not like I recall the Genesis trilogy having standout music, but this was something else.

Feelings hurt everywhere Xeo, Golden Axe 1 has AMAZING music and sound fx.
I heard Rastan went Beat'em up on its third game and from what i've seen is freaking amazing, i hope Mame emulates it well.
I'm hoping to beat Double Dragon 1 on SMS.
